Coffee is terrible, staff is amazing.

I will definitely return, but I feel sort of guilty supporting an organization that pays $3.82/hour.

My Grandparents have been coming here almost every year for the last 40 years. Not all of us can make it every year but when we can there is sometimes up to 15 of us that go it never gets old. There’s so much to do, and it’s beautiful. My aunt and uncles, cousins, siblings (now my son) and myself all agree it’s our favorite place to be.

THE GOOD: Great scenery, a lot of fun activities for kids and adults if you enjoy the outdoors and everything that comes with it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They do a great job of creating a family friendly atmosphere. Some of the adults we met that brought their young kids had been coming every summer since they were kids themselves so I believe that really adds to the great environment they have.

THE BAD: Food is bad and was usually cold by the time they set it out. It's included in the price so you have to pay for it. The cabin we rented was essentially a shed with bunks built in. You don't spend a lot of time in it so it's not that bad but really it'd be cheaper and more comfortable to tent camp.

OVERALL: Something I'd like to suggest to make the overall experience better is to utilize the basketball and volleyball courts to set up tournaments for each sport. They could create team activities for nearly everything they have. Cooking competitions, fishings, rowing, paddle boarding, team hikes, etc. I really think they would go over well and bring more interest to the camp. While the cost is cheap compared to most all-inclusive family vacations it still seemed high when factoring in the quality of food and the cabins. Again, tent camping is probably cheaper and would make the expense more worthwhile. We enjoyed our time overall.

I camped here as a kid for 4 years, worked here for a number of years as a young adult, and have brought my family here for the past 17+ years. I just love the place, and my 13 year old sons (twins) say their favorite vacation is YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake (now that's saying something). Great way to disconnect from the internet, reconnect to people and nature, and simply refill your soul. I agree with other reviewers on the food, but when I camp, I expect camp food, so I am never disappointed.
