Have worked with Whipplewood CPA's for a few years now. We transitioned from a big firm where we were just a number to this group. Our experience has been very good and they are always responsive to our business and/or personal financial needs. They have spent literally hours on the phone with the IRS on our behalf trying to fix errors the IRS created. They are always available and happy to meet outside usual business hours if necessary. Despite the great reviews, and very positive initial contact in 2022, I was very disappointed with Whipplewood CPAs. I needed them to file 2022 taxes for my Sub-S Corp, an Irrevocable Trust, and myself. I hired them because there were some very tricky things about these tax returns and I thought they would be knowledgeable and professional. They did an adequate job on all three returns, but they made several suggestions that were never incorporated (for example: I could have deducted my health insurance expense but they didn't do it) and the accountant I worked with was so frustrating because he didn't read my emails and kept asking for stuff I had already uploaded for him. I should have listened to my intuition - he didn't know what he was doing. But worst of all there was confusion on the Trust taxes after they were filed in April. It seemed there was a substantial refund from the IRS that had not been received (36K). For months I tried to get help and the accountant I was working with seemed confused and like he was blowing me off until finally I received an email reply saying he was no longer with the company. I contacted the back up person and he solved the puzzle of the Trust tax return in one email. My previous accountant was indeed completely clueless. I was so grateful to finally have an answer! I asked if he could please deal with the invoices I received for emails that the other accountant never answered and problems that were never solved. I told him I'd be happy to pay for the time he spent reviewing the account. Crickets. After a few weeks I sent the billing department an email saying I wasn't going to pay the invoices (it was only a couple hundred bucks) and again, how unhappy I was with the work of the prior accountant and how he left and nobody took over my account. Again, no response. Yesterday I got a termination letter. Good riddance. I think they're overwhelmed and are having trouble hiring good accountants. Since I noticed there are few recent reviews I thought it was important to share my experience. Good luck. It's super hard to find a good accountant.

I contacted WhippleWood to see if they could help my family with our upcoming tax returns. I happened to catch them on a very busy day and they were not able to spend much time talking with me. The accountant I spoke with said he would contact me within a week. That was four weeks ago and I’ve not heard from him, or anyone else at WhippleWood. If you’re not able, or willing, to take on the work then just be professional, and honest, and let me know. Their lack of communication has led me to retain the services of one of WhippleWood’s competitors.

....used to be a good responsive firm, with diligent and knowledgeable CPA's at reasonable fees. I used them for my small business LLC for several years. I guess those people have retired or the place was sold. I tried them again with a request to do a few small business returns and catch up some returns for an LLC holding company. Should be pretty easy. Corresponded with an Adam there. I used their portal to send my personal information for a quote. Then, no response. I sent follow up emails, left voice mails, nothing. Don't risk giving your personal info to someone that isn't diligent enough to be upfront about their abilities.
