If you want a home away from home that gives your loved one a bed sore the size of your hand....well this is just the place! Would not recommend for farm animals much less a loved one. It isn't even worth 1 star.

Illini Restorative Care needs to be shutdown. There is something very shady about the place besides it being horrible. I actually give it 0 stars. My mother was there for a little over a week and thank God we got her out. It was a nightmare for her and she received a very bad bruise on her arm while in there. She was supposed to be in rehab for a short time after being in the hospital. She definitely would have been better off at home which is where she went when we got her out. She did much better at home. I had heard from 2 people in rehab there, that both said they were only supposed to be there a couple of weeks but were still there months later. My Mom is very independent and didn't need to be there at all but may have been stuck in there for a very long time. The place is dirty, old and in very poor condition. No one should take their loved ones to this place. They honestly should be reported for abuse and neglect.

I’m going to give an honest review of this place, based on my experience with my mother and hearing others’ experiences inside. My mother had a late stage COPD. She was having some trouble getting around due to not wanting to move. She was declining at home. Then she went into Genesis restorative care. She did not want to go, but after easing her mind she was willing. She ended up with her own room with a beautiful view of the courtyard. She stayed there for about 10 days. During that time, she was worked with every day, ate lunch in the cafeteria with people in somewhat of the same state as she was which provided her amazing company instead of being isolated at home. She developed friends inside. Now, was there any Instances where she may wait 10 minutes after hitting her buzzer, yes. Any job can be understaffed at any given time. If people call in and no one is going to come replace them, there is nothing you can do. I work in the restaurant industry as a manager and completely understand this. There was nothing excessive though. Compared to most nursing homes, this place is like a hotel. I would recommend this to anybody with a family member that needs some help that you cannot provide in order to get them mobile so they can live their daily life.

My Mom has been in this center for over a year and I have visited from out-of-town on several occasions. Most importantly, my Mom is satisfied with her situation there and likes most of the staff. All interactions I have witnessed between staff and patients have been positive.
It is not always easy to find someone to talk with about any questions, but this is mainly because the nurses and staff are busy taking care of the continuous issues that arise in a facility of this type. Of course, seemingly endless reams of paperwork have to be completed to satisfy Medicare, insurance companies, and protect from lawsuits, so much of their time is spent filling out forms.
I have visited similar care centers in Texas and Alabama as well as in Illinois. This one holds up well when compared with those . . . in some ways better, in some not.
I have eaten dinner in the center with my Mom and her tablemates numerous times. No, it's not good restaurant quality meals, but the food was always at least okay. My Mom has some special needs for dining and those needs have always been met.
There is probably no way to make staying in this type of facility a great experience. None of the patients want to be there, and for most it is the last stop on the subway line of life and of course they know it. Many of the people working there are not nurses, but are staff who are probably not paid all that much. I salute them for accepting the task and I thank them for caring for my 95-year-old mother.

If I could give this facility a 0 star rating I absolutely would. My grandpa was at this facility for only a week and it was an absolute nightmare. DO NOT send anyone you love to this facility. They will be treated like dogs. His bed sheets weren't changed after myself and several of my family members had requested them to be changed. He was given medications that are not to be mixed together for 5 days in a row after we told them exactly what to give him and when to give it several different times (my sister is a pharmacy tech). My dad was asked to sign a form saying that the staff could sedate him at any time they felt necessary. When my dad asked to have a note in his file that the family would be notified if this medication was to be used they scoffed at him, slapped a sticky note on his file, and replied, "There, happy now." He was supposed to have an alarm that went off if he left his room and he was found on the floor of another patient's room at 2 a.m. unaware of what had happened. The staff had no idea how long he had been there or what had happened. The nurses were incredibly rude, except for Ashlie. They constantly seemed inconvenienced, would yell down the hall to communicate with each other, and even laughed rolled their eyes at me. They were constantly irritated that we were there to visit my grandpa on a daily basis, even saying to my sister "Oh, you're back." This place is horrible. We were thrilled when we were finally able to get my grandpa out of there and moved to a facility where he will be cared for.

Dirty, didn’t take care of my mom at all! Understaffed, her call light would be on for over an hour before anyone would come in. I asked if that was normal to a nursing supervisor and was told YES!! My mom would have to call me and have me call the nurse desk to tell them she needed help after her light would go unnoticed. She was unable to stand on her own and would end up spilling the bed because no one would take her to the bathroom. Please do not put your loved one here!!

Terrible experience for my grandpa!!!!! Nursing staff are unprofessional uneducated!!! Who puts people to bed in their clothes? Lazy staff that's who! Take the time and but them in their pajamas! These are someone's dad's, grandparents uncle's aunt! Come on people! I was highly recommend to this place and I'm sorry that we went here!!!!! Never will day anything to anyone about this place for there family!!!!!!! Also Grandpa had incident with his ileostomy bag it leaked and he was wet he hit his call light and asked the R.N. who answered the light if she could help him , her response was " sorry i know nothing about that your going to have to do that yourself!" This man has 10 broken bones!!!!!!!! Is here for rehabilitation people and nurses are supposed to help people not humiliate them!!!!!!!!!!

This place is horrible!! If I could give 0 stars I would!! I had a family friend have surgery and had to come here. They had her so "doped up" she had no idea what was happening. She was totally out of it. Tried to tell a nurse that she had too much pain meds and they totally ignored us. She was falling asleep in the wheel chair and had slobber all down her shirt. Also one night she told me she was having chest pain and I went to tell the nurse and she wouldn't even look up from her laptop!! Then they scheduled the meeting and neglected to tell us when it was. I feel that was because they didn't want us there. Don't bring your loved ones here. They will drug them up just to keep them there. She ended up being found unresponsive and rushed to the hospital!! Thank God they sent her elsewhere after that!! Beware!!
