City permit office is a mess. Inspectors roll around town looking for trouble, staff at the office are unhelpful and don't communicate.

Called to check on a permit status and was told it didn't exist, but had confirmation that the contractor registered and issued an SOW and was then never approved or was lost. Then, inspector shows up at the house to harass the workers who are working to fix a fire hazard where my home could have burned down.

Ultimately, my city should be working for me with the tax dollars I pay them, not giving me the runaround for trying to get critical work done to continue living in my home. The online systems (document center), permit application, etc. are outdated (and the information/documents and instructions) and should be overhauled for the 21st century. Office staff need more consistent training. I pay for this service, and shouldn't be hamstrung by inefficient systems, incompetent inspectors, and unhelpful staff.

Do better.
