We arranged a half-day snowshoe with Joe and had the best time. COVID protocol required us to have a private tour, and it ended up being to our benefit. It was just my wife and I with Joe out in the fresh Vail snowfall. We'd never snowshoed before, but found it enjoyable and accessible. Joe clearly knew the route like the back of his hand (since he established the trail himself!), and we loved hearing from him about animal tracks, flora and fauna, snow science, and life stories along the way. It was just the right amount of challenge; we ended up covering about 3 miles and 700 vertical feet. A great alternative to skiing for those (like my wife) seeking something less extreme, but enjoyable for a seasoned skier (like myself) too.
