Wish i could give 0 stars. Dont answer phone calls or voicemails, will go in person soon since apparently thats the only way to possibly get them to respond. not gonna lie the orientation office was also like that. they try their best to avoid the students even if i call or email 3 times a day.

Don’t even bother calling the number, as soon as the phone starts ringing they disconnect the call without even attempting to answer. I understand it’s busy since they’re dealing with hundreds if not thousands of people but at least try placing the calls on hold. This is ridiculous.

Only open during prime work hours. Does not update anywhere that their physical office closes at 4:30pm, not 5pm. No point in calling their number because it automatically goes to voice mail telling you they’ll get back to you in 3-4 business days (they just never get back to you — good luck to anyone that lives outside of Chicago). Took the bus and got to the office at 4:29pm on the dot to be turned away with the office hour information, which, apparently even the university bursar office was not aware of since they told me financial aid closes at 5pm. They really do not care.

I have had the same problems as everyone else who left one star. If I had to guess, it's a staffing issue rather than that the counselors just don't care. I was directed to a counselor for ALL of the graduate students and pharmacy students. That has to be at least a thousand people. The entire University is chronically understaffed and the workers miserably underpaid. System's completely broken

The counselors don’t care about the students and will do absolutely everything to get you to leave them alone 🤦‍♀️ if you have an issue with your financial aid I’d suggest to be persistent with calling and emailing theme. they’ll eventually give in but they will try to brush it off as “nothing we can do”

Worst college financial aid office I have dealt with. I have tried calling for the year that I attended UIC, and no one ever picks up. They tell you to leave a VM, and they will literally never call you back. There is no number for the front desk, and they do not answer emails. Only way to attempt to get your problem solved is to physically go up there. This is inconvenient for those who are no longer seeking to attend UIC any further, students with no transportation or family to take them, or for those who are forced to use public transportation given the terrible weather in Chicago. DO BETTER.

I went IN-PERSON, since FAFSA changed its application and added the parent portion I had questions and was not able to submit my application. The lovely lady there helped me despite other students coming in. She submitted the application with me and probably saved me thousands of dollars 🫡

Don’t answer and I can’t even leave a message because they hang up on you.
