Beautiful and a wonderful chance to experience the monuments that have been carved for years in their native culture. I recommend a tour that covers the history of the totems to help you understand the depth of their meaning. It will give you a greater respect of what you are viewing

Beautiful location and excellent experience! The free bus through town will drop you right off in front of the door. Veterans get in free and otherwise it's worth the small fee to tour the museum. It's also a great place to wander around on the trail outside across the river with the dainty little wooden bridge that makes the experience picturesque.

$9 will get you into this museum and the Tongass Historical Museum, each is $6. Beautiful displays that explain how totems are made and what they represent, along with several on display and other related artifacts. A short walk from the salmon ladder and a very quiet and peaceful place.

This is an interesting place to learn about the history and production of the totems. HOWEVER, there were NOT many actual totems standing there. We saw pictures that showed several totems in one place, but this was not where the majority are. The ones they do have are truly amazing to see though.

Is interesting cultural experience. Easy to walk to following the river from Creek Street. They also have a bus that picks you up and drops you off, and it's free.

We visited the Totem Heritage Centre while we were at this port during our Alaska cruise. It was a rainy day, we took about 35mins walk from creek Street to here. In fact there is a free shuttle bus come right in front of the centre.
it is a very small museum don’t expect much from it. Before my visit I thought I could have some visual experience the crafting of Totem poles. Nope, they are all display of totem poles and informative write up as well as some other artefacts. Well, the information gives a rich cultural heritage of the indigenous communities. It maybe great if there are tour guides explaining more details than just reading by ourselves. Glad that we were able to visit on the US Memorial Day in Ketchikan, otherwise, we really don’t know what can be done in the town during a rainy day.
The admission price is relatively cheap, $9 for two museums , together with Tongass Historical Museum.
