We love this place. Our son started about a year ago and it has boosted his confidence and the way he carries himself.

I would like to recognize the lead instructor, Charles Orchard. He carries himself with confidence but is very humble. I have never heard him talk about his numerous accomplishments, accreditations or the fact that he has trained military personnel. I find that to be a telling quality in a karate instructor. The owners have good communication and have quickly answered some questions I had after hours. They were flexible when I had to change which class my son attended to accommodate other extracurricular activities that kids inevitably take on.

Cannot recommend this place enough.

Our 3 kiddos are entering their third year with Total Ryu and they have blossomed in physical and mental confidence. After their class there is rarely not smiles and giggles on the drive home. Highly recommend!

I've learned so much from my 3 years at this dojo, and I still have much to go! I have grown not only as a martial artist, but as a person. Everybody I've met here has been kind and helpful. The owners and teachers are great people who are truly devoted to teaching kids, teenagers, and adults martial arts.

Total Ryu has been an incredible experience for my daughters. I love their approach to multi-level / multi-age instruction because it lets kids mentor and learn from each other, AND it's an after-school activity that my Kindergartner and 4th grader can participate in together. Update: It's been a few years and my Kindergartner is now a middle schooler and still attending classes at this dojo. She's formed great friendships with classmates, and is striving toward a black belt.

Hi highly recommend Total Ryu Martial Arts for kids and adults! I took a self defense class as an adult and loved it! It was informative and the instructor even made it fun. I learned so much and feel better about being able to defend myself in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

My husband and I have been in a variety of martial arts in the last 20 years in multiple states. When my daughter turned 6 we decided to enroll her in a martial arts class. We tried classes at a number of places around town but Total Ryu was the best choice for us. We could only commit to one night a week and the quantity and quality of learning at Total Ryu is exceptional. She has been in class for about a year and loves it. She loves it so much she wanted her 4 year old brother to join as well. I was worried he would be too young to focus for an hour but the instructors are amazing and provide one on one attention, direction and truly care about the kids. Depending on our schedule the kids have taken both the Karate and Jujitsu class. I like that it's more traditional in nature compared to some MMA/competition focused schools in town. The kids have great practical instruction, time to discuss concerns during the mat chats and of course a game to wind up the class. I appreciate the cards sent home with a personal note and picture from each belt advancement. A small touch but it shows how much they care about each student. We love Total Ryu and have recommended them to a number of friends.

My son has been at Total Ryu for a little over 3 years now and has lived every minute. The classes and their summer camp are amazing! Charles, Jill and Leah, alone with the other students that help teach, are so caring yet firm with the kids. The life lessons that they teach are just as wonderful as the skills. We love it so much we are also starting my daughter there too now that she’s old enough.
