Started my son in music lesson with Mike
He has been a wonderful and very knowledgeable about music and the industry. He is funny and has great sense of humor for kids or adults. It has been a wonderful experience. The location in Taylorville is very clean well organized plenty of waiting rooms and lesson rooms. It is an all around great place and experience I highly recommend this place what a great experience and teacher.

Mike Semerau is an excellent drum teacher and musician. My son continues to take lessons with him since he was 5 years old and is now 13. Mike taught him to play a variety of music styles and my son has become an excellent musician. We were very fortunate to have found Mike.

My son has already learned so much since he started taking xylophone lessons at Taylorville Music Lessons. Mary Beth is an excellent teacher, and my son is even wanting to learn more instruments with her. Not only does she inspire him to be a better musician, she customizes her lessons to motivate him to be more responsible and more confident performing. The first time he performed I was in awe! He is so shy, but Mary Beth and Mike prepared him and built his confidence so that he was comfortable in front of a crowd. He was beaming with pride when he was done. I am so thankful we have such a wonderful, positive, and safe environment for people of all ages to learn music!

I’ve been playing for 24years now and signed my kid up, after a couple lessons, it wasn’t her cup of tea, so I took her spot and I look forward very much to my weekly lessons with Dylan. Mike, the owner is super cool and the moment you walk in, you see his passion for teaching music. Highly recommend Taylorville Music Lessons.

I’ve been a student of Mike’s for nearly 11 years, and he’s definitely a phenomenal teacher.

I can speak from experience,That he can take a person with no rhythmic talent and turn that person into a drumming dynamo.

He’s also been really compassionate and encouraging even during the roughest parts of my musical journey.

Plus although his prices are relatively cheap, but the quality of his lessons are top notch.

If you have the passion to learn music and have and a drive to practice there’s no one I’d recommend more!

Ive been taking drum lessons here for a couple of months now and it is probably one of the best parts of my week. The staff is amazing, Mike is an incredible teacher and extremely helpful in every aspect. He’s not only helped me conquer the fear of beginning lessons for the first time, but he continues to work with me and looks out for any drum sets for me so that I can practice at home as well. I was a little nervous starting lessons because I’ve never attempted it before, but he made the process easy and continues to support me through my learning. I definitely would recommend him and this location to anybody that is looking to learn a new instrument and find an establishment with staff that will help you in anyway possible!

Omg this is needed. Bringing back the good ole days of playing “REAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS”. Mike is a genuine person. Very devoted to the students and his Taylorville Music Lessons is a great School and is very very welcoming. I recommend him and his school and staff. The old saying “Home is where the Heart Is”. Very true in his amazing musical environment. I give him 5 stars all day long.
