Our family has been of Sunshine House Oakley since January 2023, and we couldn't be happier with the care our child receives! From the moment we walked in, we felt the warmth and professionalism of the staff. The teachers are patient, attentive, and truly dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where kids can learn and grow.

Our child loves the daily activities, from arts and crafts to outdoor play, and we've seen incredible progress in their social and cognitive development. The facility is always clean and well-organized, and communication with parents is excellent. We receive regular updates, including pictures and notes about our child’s day, which is such a comfort.

What sets Sunshine House Oakley apart is how much they genuinely care about the kids. It feels like an extended family, and we’re grateful for the love and attention they give to our child every day.

We highly recommend Sunshine House Oakley to any parent looking for a safe, enriching, and caring place for their child.

We have been at Sunshine for almost 3 months and my kid loves everything that Sunshine House offers. I like that there are separate rooms and the option to go outside and play. This gives the kids choices to what activities they like to do. They provide snacks and water for the kids, and are so welcoming every time at drop-off and pick up. It’s amazing that with so many kids they know them by name and by the parent. I highly recommend bringing your child here.

My son has been at this preschool about 2 months now and absolutely loves it. Nothing brings me more joy than hearing him say he “played with friends” at school on our drive home. My son had speech delay and went through long sessions of ST and OT to help him improve. Sunshine house Oakley are so friendly and supportive and my son continues to thrive there after his ST/OT sessions stopped. I feel that my son is in safe hands there and would highly recommend this preschool to any parents looking to place their child in a fun, supportive learning environment.

Disappointment with Sunshine House Preschool:-

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with our experience at Sunshine House Preschool. After enrolling my two-year-old child a few months ago, I had high hopes for his development and happiness at your institution. However, it has become apparent that Sunshine House is not meeting our expectations.

Despite assurances from your staff, I got complaints that my child has consistently struggled with feelings of sadness and discomfort while at your school. He has required constant reassurance and hand-holding from teachers, which suggests a lack of adequate support and nurturing in the classroom environment.

As a parent, it is distressing to witness my child's emotional distress and to feel that his needs are not being met. In all my years in the United States, I have never encountered a preschool where a child's emotional well-being was so overlooked.

Furthermore, I am disappointed by the lack of consideration shown by Sunshine House regarding the initial registration fee. Despite our concerns and the evident mismatch between my child's needs and your school's capabilities, no offer of refund or compromise has been extended to us.

We had hoped to build a long-term relationship with your institution, but it has become clear that this is not feasible given the current circumstances.

I urge you to reflect on the issues raised and consider implementing changes to better support the emotional needs of young children in your care. Every child deserves a nurturing and supportive learning environment, and I hope that Sunshine House can strive to provide that in the future.

The teachers and staff at Sunshine House are all extremely communicative, caring, and personable. They answer any and all questions a curious mama might have . I love receiving all of the updates regarding my childs development and growth as well as receiving images of him throughout the day. It is an awesome feeling knowing your child is safe and loved ! The versatility the facility has to offer is amazing and promotes independence while still keeping a routine ! Thank you all !

28+ years ago I started my educational journey at Sunshine House in Oakley. I have the fondest memories of going to pre-school there, and still remember so many songs, activities and fun days we celebrated together.

When I had children of my own, and moved back to the Bay Area, the ONLY option for me when considering pre-schools for my son was Sunshine House. We currently live in Brentwood and drive over to Oakley 3x a week just for my son to experience this school and its great teacher team.

Our favorite things currently that we look forward to every week: texted photo updates, weekly emails and music class! The teachers send picture updates every week via text so my partner and I get insights into our son's activities and what activities he's having fun with this week. Definitely comes in handy when he comes home and we ask, "what did you do at school today?" --We can avoid the "Uh, I don't remember..." conversation altogether!
Sunshine House sends out weekly curriculums so we can prepare our son for next week's activities and points of learning. And when he comes home raving about a book they read at Circle Time, I can easily find the title of the book they read listed in the curriculum and we can pick the book up at the library to read again at home. And while the school does incorporate a lot of music, art and movement into their regular curriculum, they do often provide opportunities for EXTRA art, music, and physical activities for you to sign your children up for. Our son looks forward to Thursdays, especially, for music class!

The school is very clean, they provide healthy breakfast & snacks, they conduct emotional & educational milestone check-ins, and we can confidently say our son is set up for success for Kindergarten next Fall! (Even though I'm personally not mentally prepared for that...)

We can't wait for our daughter to be ready to start at Sunshine House with our son next year! 100/10 We do recommend Sunshine House Oakley for others. Whether it's for "day care", "pre-school", or "TK", Sunshine House is a magnificent & well-rounded school that will set your child(ren) up for success!

We are so happy at Sunshine House! We love that the kids can choose where they want to play and explore and that there are teachers supervising in every area with headsets to communicate when kids are headed to another area of the school. It gives the kids a sense of independence, but also ensures security and safety. The teachers are so sweet and thoughtful. We’ve received many hand written notes with sweet messages about our kids. We also love the frequent pizza movie nights that they offer to allow for parents to go on date nights. It’s that extra step in caring for our family that is unmatched. I highly recommend Sunshine House! ♥️

We chose Sunshine House Oakley because we wanted our son to continue to grow and be challenged with children his own age. Once I toured the school I was blown away by their balance of teacher directed learning and the option for my son to choose where he wants to play/learn. He comes home daily with art projects and talking about how much fun he had that day. He loves the swings in the backyard, and the dress up area. I love that we get daily text messages with photos of how his day is going. In addition to the daily photos- Sunshine House print photos of the kids and displays them in frames throughout the facility. Once it’s time to rotate they send home the photo. It’s an easy way for me to document his school year! They have their curriculum posted online so it's easy for us to ask questions about what he learned related to a subject instead of "How was school today?" Sunshine House provides breakfast daily and I'm so thankful that stress has been taken off of my hands. I know he's getting a nutritious meal and he's not rushed. I am so happy we made the choice to put him in Sunshine House. We can't wait to see him continue to shine.
