This coming season will be our 3rd year with the Patriots. The coaching staff at all levels is fantastic! The time and effort they put into our players is noteworthy! I would definitely recommend the Patriots football program! The family atmosphere that our program offers just enhances the experience for the players! Thank you South Elgin Patriots! My son LOVES football because of your program!

I am sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. As I said reaching out to you multiple times I would love to talk to you about it. I believe if you go and falsely accuse someone you should be willing to talk to them. Maybe you can also explain to everyone that your son chose to play two sports in the same season which inhibited him to make practices. Please feel free to reach out to us so we can further discuss like adults. Thank you

My experience with the South Elgin Patriots JV football team this year has been incredibly disappointing (why we gave them another chance I’ll never know as previous seasons weren’t great either). The ā€œcoachesā€ consistently speak negatively about the team, creating a toxic environment for the kids. Not all players are given a fair chance to play, and the ones who do are often not being properly developed. Practices are poorly structured, with kids standing around doing nothing or just running the same pointless hitting drills over and over. It’s clear that there’s no real game plan or understanding of how to improve the players’ skills or teamwork.
To make matters worse, the organization seems to foster an environment where bullying is tolerated, leaving some players feeling unwelcome and unsupported. This season was so bad that multiple players quit. Instead of focusing on developing the remaining players, the team has resorted to shady tactics, attempting to fraudulently obtain the jerseys of the players who left, rather than using the kids they still have on the team. The only thing I got out of this season was a $550 Jersey so NO, Coaches you cannot have it and don’t ask another kid to ask my son at school again! Half the team deserves a refund plus interest for the time they wasted. It’s a complete mess, and I would not recommend this organization to anyone who wants their child to grow as a player or enjoy the sport.

Updated with response to Johns5 star Response: I chose not to call and speak with John because it was unnecessary as the culture if coaching was to blame the kids and everyone else but themselves for what transpired throughout the season. I also wanted everything with this man in writing. Even if the kids are liars or we misunderstood the intent of players asking my son for his jersey, coaches didn’t know, or whatever…the rest of my statements remain. Additionally, my son plays 3 sports, not two, and you were aware of this, as well as someone else because I’d reached out to ensure it wouldn’t be a problem before joining because there was some slight overlap the first few weeks of the practice season with basketball. This was the case for several kids on the team who play multiple sports. We also made the head coach aware the very first day of practice (he didn’t seem to have a problem with it at the time) and even in those first few weeks my son still made all practices and partial practices the days he had basketball (which was one day). I assume however that you are referring to Soccer which my son also played for middle school. Since I should be letting everyone know , as you say, soccer is on Mondays and Wednesdays. Patriots practice was on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday so this should not have interfered at all when we tried out for soccer. However, because no one came to practices the first few Fridays (my son did with the exception of one week he was recovering from Covid) the coaches moved the practice day from Friday to Wednesdays. Since this was not an original practice day we had soccer games now. However, you bet as soon as that ended around 6pm, my son came every week 30-60 mins late running up directly after his game and into football practice because YOU moved the practice day and he was still committed to coming to the remainder of practice (looking back I should have just let him go home and eat dinner since him showing up apparently meant nothing to you anyway and would still be accused of missing practice). I am not sure however how my son playing multiple sports makes up for the experience we had or some of your coaches on the sidelines saying how bad the kids were and how they should have coached somewhere else. No need to keep going back and forth my whole point is there was no accountability from coaches for the shortcomings multiple people had this year and that’s fine. This is our experience and it remains unchanged because of your excuses and attempts to invalidate it. This was the last year for youth sports and development anyway so it’s irrelevant now.

We really enjoyed the team. The coaches were amazing and our son really loved learning football as a first timer. It was great to see the video gamer get out and get active. He was really engaged and loved seeing the new found bond between him and his teammates!

I think we are all super excited to see the 2023 ā€œNew South Elgin Patriots Youth Football Leagueā€ transformation! Go SE!

2022 was our first year with SE Patriots as well as our son’s first time ever playing football. The coaches were absolutely the best and helped each child not only feel confident but happy to be a part of the team win or lose. Many of the kids on our team loved playing and being a part of the JV family so much they would arrive to practice early and stay late. We are definitely looking forward to the 2023 season with our football family.

This is my third year with South Elgin Patriots. My son joined first and from the start the dedication of the coaches and the bonding of my kid with his team kept us coming back. Last year my 7 year old girl traded her ballet slippers for cleats and she fell in love with football! Excited for this new season because we have a full crew of awesome board members making things happen.

My husband has coached and son played for the SE Patriots for the past 2 years and we have absolutely loved our experience. The dedicated coaches create a fun and safe environment by teaching players the correct football fundamentals. Lastly, the camaraderie amongst the coaches, players and families is priceless.
