SkyView Academy has been a fantastic school for our three children. All three have been challenged by the rigor of the school and yet they have excelled academically and thrived. When moving on to high school they were well ahead of their classmates in the mainstream schools and were ready to jump into honors and AP courses. Aside from academics our children have been taught on a daily basis about investing in the community around them and how to be honorable leaders, which is huge to us! This school really is about focusing on the entire student and they care. The teachers and administration are incredible! We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a great place to send their children!

I am also a graduated student of SkyView; I was there for 4 total years. This school is absolutely not a college prep school. Their form of ‘prep’ does not included exposing students to the reality of options such as community college. I understand wanting your students to aim high, but their explanation of college made it sound intimidating, scary, and overwhelming. There was no real prep for college; the vast amounts of homework meant to prepare us for the ‘real world’ was absolutely not helpful. The teachers were AMAZING but their affect was dampened by the school requirements and general culture of the staff. The amount of teachers who quit or were privately let go is a pretty good indication of what’s going on behind the scenes. If you’re looking to prepare your child for college, you’ll get better results doing your own research.

I have been at this school for 5 years and the school is great! I am able to communicate with my teachers and they are great at making relationships with students. The courses may be a little harder, but it is worth the push to prepare for next level learning. The activities they provide give a lot of opportunities to connect with other students, too.

Our three kids are at Skyview. Our oldest has been there since it opened. We absolutely love the school - the smaller environment and parental involvement is great. The teachers and administration are very dedicated to our kids' success. While they've had homework, it hasn't been overwhelming for any of them. Our kids aren't crazy about the uniforms, but as a parent, we're happy with them. It helps keep the kids on an even playing field for attire (unlike our childhood schools). As a side note, having three kids at one school saves on commuting time too! 🙂

As a student who graduated from this school and is now in college, they are not a college prep school. They prepare you with overwhelming amounts of homework which I guess prepared me for that aspect, but when it comes to actual school and degrees I was completely lost. They don't help students figure out a degree path and overwhelmingly push STEM degrees on students and lack informing kids on their other options. Most students who graduate either don't go to college or they drop out after a year or two.

My girlfriend's son goes to school here. Trying to pick him up from school is the worst thing I've experienced with a school as an adult. 100s of cars wait in a line zig zagging through the parking lot, all running for the entire time they are there. Please exit school children into the plume of exhaust gasses we have piled up for you outside. Easily takes an hour if you arrive right when they get off so arrive early and expect to wait. Waste of everyone's time and air.

This is a very academically challenging school, there are many AP and honors classes offered and there is a lot of SAT preparation that takes place. I transferred out of SVA last year in order to graduate early. I met many great mentors here such as the biology teacher and girls basketball coach. I was also able to participate in a number of extracurriculars at the same time with minimal conflict. However, the administration is not equipped to deal with a variety of issues. There was a number of anti-semitic graffiti left un dealt with. Not only this, but it is toxic for those struggling with mental health issues. Transferring was the best thing that I could've done for my mental health.

When I was a highschool freshman I had a horrible experience at this school and quickly transferred out of the school. While the school is not an openly christian school that's what they are at their core. On more than one occasion my english teacher tried to preach the bible to the class rather than teach it as a piece of literature. When the teacher and administration were confronted with this problem they did nothing to resolve it and the teacher continued to preach the bible how she saw fit. They also have a very bad bullying issue that the administration does nothing about even when parents get involved. The administration simply states that it will be dealt with and does nothing. If you or your student are an accelerated learner or are advanced in any subjects this is most definitely not the school for you. They do not let you take the class that you need and instead put you in the standard classes for your grade level even if they have the opportunity to put you into the class that you need.
