This School district is ridiculous the transportation company is very unprofessional the teachers don’t really care it took for me to request a PTC to know how my child is doing in school my kids bus was a hour late picking them up and the school marked them absent knowing the bus is late my kids transferred from SD54 to this district and I hate it

Well I have tried to write an honest negative review on this district about 5 times now, but every single one has been censored. Apparently, you can't speak the whole truth in a review. So, here are only a few reasons to stay clear. This district is the worst district in the Chicago suburbs. The district cares about everything except its students and their families. Some schools are good, but it's super hit or miss. If you're a parent, you'll be doing the teaching while teachers get paid for "planning hours." U46 will do anything to cut corners and praise itself for having the same programs that every district in the surrounding areas have. If this district had the choice, they wouldn't meet state mandates. They already do everything they can to stay at the bare minimum with no interest in being a better district. Phone calls aren't answered or returned, and sometimes they'll pick up and hang up on you. The only way students are helped is by having multiple staff members at the school level become involved. Schools can't even teach U46 children properly because the district is against intelligent decision making.

HORRIBLE customer service at the school district u-46 Elgin office front desk. A woman by the name Luz refused to let me into the building after my mother showed her badge and I explained why I had to go inside the offices with her. She proceeded to say "no visitors were allowed" and that "those were the policies", when visitor instructions are WRITTEN OUTSIDE ON THE DOOR!! She was VERY rude, unprofessional, had a terrible attitude, and was not helpful by any means. From my car outside, I called HR and the lady who answered came outside to allow me to come back inside and help my mother. The ladies who helped us meanwhile were nice, we were advised to go back up to the front ( main entrance where our lovely friend Luz was ) to call another dept. we had to communicate with, Luz started to accuse us/tell us that we could not use "her" phone when we never attempted to go behind her desk or asked to use her work phone.. They have a phone available to visitors and employees towards the front of the building, which is what we used. I don't understand why she approached us again, put her two cents in when we were not even talking to her at all.. I'd recommend having someone personable, friendly, or even somewhat decent at their front desk. Luz is NOT it! Absolutely disgusted with this encounter

Former student/ victim of U-46 school district. They do not care about the safety and well-being of their students at all in regards to bullying. I was so happy when I moved out of state.

Avoid this school district at all costs. During the shutdown for the COVID pandemic this district has demonstrated numerous times that they are unorganized and unprepared. They place ALL of the burden for education on the parents. Im looking to move far away from U-46

Parking is limited, I was there along with 250 people throughout the day for vaccination, but everyone managed to find a spot, building was very clean and organized. Everyone was nice and helpful.

The COVID vaccine distribution was a total disappointment. Provided a contact but all the lines of communication is dead. When we arrived, it was a total nightmare.
