DONT SEND YOUR CHILD TO ROGERS, THEY DISCHARGE EARLY DUE TO INSURANCE, IF YOUR CHILD YELLS AT STAFF THEY WILL DISCHARGE IMMEDIATELY, THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE KIDS WITH BEHAVIORAL ISSUES.

HUGE mistake to bring my son here. They admitted him without fully screening him to see if their program was a right fit, and I wish they would have told me up front that they are incapable of handling combative behaviors, even though I was very transparent during intake. Frustrated with being stuck waiting in little rooms for hours on end, my son was easily agitated. Rather than allowing me to intervene as he escalated (they insisted I "disengage") they allowed him to pick up objects which he then either threw or held up in defense mode, leading them to give up on him - obviously he was set up for failure.

They also allowed him to run around hallways and ESCAPE from their secured area, leading to a 30-minute hunt for a 9-year-old boy throughout stairwells that lead outside near a very busy street. During discharge, they suggested a more aggressive medication for the sake of "calming" him, and suggested places out of state to send him to. Then they had the gall to charge me hundreds of dollars for THEIR negligent treatment of my son, and our family's further life disruption by keeping him kicked out of school.

Fast forward to a year later, and we found a great local school for our son - a therapeutic day school that is designed for autistic kids. Thanks to a school that knows what they're doing, our son is thriving there, and he very obviously did not need to be institutionalized or over-medicated. Rogers... how dare you give up on a boy who needed help, suggesting that he needs higher-level institutionalization and more aggressive medication, and setting him up to have had his schooling delayed.

My daughter was in the PHP program for anorexia for 3 weeks, and then she was transferred to their residential program in WI. The PHP program is a decent one, but it is light (5 days a week, 6 hours long). It is not truly partial hospitalization. It is based more on exposures. They let the kids stay alone in a room to fill out surveys, which is not good. Space is also tight. The staff was great. There are better programs around.

I highly recommend the OCD/ASD program here at Rogers Behavioral Health in Skokie. We have had an incredible experience here over the last three months. If you come, I encourage you to trust the process. The pace may seem slow at times but there’s a method to the “organized chaos”. This program helped train me as much as it did my son. As a parent, come open to being “wrong” in that there may be things that feel natural to do as a parent (reassuring/accommodations) that you will need to stop doing. It gets harder before it gets better, but there’s so much support in the program. Get to know other parents… it’s the first time I’ve been surrounded by people who “get” what it’s like to have a child on the spectrum experiencing OCD/Anxiety. Soak up all the information through Parent University, through the handouts you receive, and through the modeling of how your behavioral specialist interacts with your child. I think any negative reviews come from people who quit the process before it was completed. It is difficult because our kids have to sit in uncertainty and anxiety, but the outcome and skills they learn are worth the short term discomfort. My son’s compulsions have literally vanished. I know that they will resurface in the future because that is the nature of OCD, but we now know how to deal with it and have a huge toolbox of tools to utilize. It’s bittersweet to be going home soon because it’s been such a life changing experience. I want to publicly acknowledge our amazing behavioral specialist, Caitlin, our therapist, Rachel, and staff members Diana and Mike for their unbelievable kindness and help. Thank you for giving us our son back. We are forever grateful.

I'm writing the review that I wish I could've read before sending my daughter to Rogers. We learned how awful this place was the hard way, but if you trust me, you won't have to. I wouldn't recommend this place even if I was given a million dollars. Dr. Cho is the most unimaginative, untrustworthy, and unknowledgeable psychiatrist I have ever had my child see. She is discharging from their FOCUS program soon and we are more than ready to get out of this place. Cho's prescribed medications didn't work and caused terrible side effects to my daughter. We brought this up to her and she refused to change the medication or the dosage. Her approach to therapy is literally the exact same for every patient. Her idea of "exposure therapy" is to put children in stressful, anxiety-provoking, and sometimes dangerous situations without supervision or guidance. My daughter says that one of her peers now has literal life-impacting PTSD thanks to Dr. Cho's disasterous handling of his case, which was only diagnosed by a separate and far more qualified psychiatrist. FIND A DIFFERENT TREATMENT CENTER. It will save you so much pain not to go here.

I agree 100% with DeeGee! This was exactly my sons experience. I can’t figure out how this place come so highly recommended, when this is how they operate. Also besides this, they seem to know nothing about Trauma, or executive functioning. Expect perfect compliance or they immediately dismiss you, to move on to the next insured patient. Psychiatrist literally was yelling at my son. Also, I would be very cautious about trusting them to do exposure therapy, as this has been proven to be ineffective treatment for trauma especially in unskilled hands!

staff are alright, but i've been reading some of the reviews and i totally agree with the fact that there is too much time for kids there to be sitting alone with their thoughts during individual time. you can do assessments and worksheets and such during individual time, but then you're alone for 20-30 minutes, and are not granted use of your phone as well by the way. i'm keen to the fact that HIPPA doesn't allow phones to be used in program, but i'd really suggest having less individual time in that case because without much distraction, my anxiety got unmanageable at times. i also felt whenever i was upset with certain policies i was dismissed and given a punishment almost immediately if i got upset. or the conversation would just be stopped because i was getting "aggressive" when i hadn't raised my voice at all. there were a few good staff such as jocelyn and maggie but i got to spend little time with them. also medication seems prescribed very early on when i feel as if there should've been tests done before they put me on medication/raised the doses. overall cbt wasn't very helpful for me, unless there was discussion from other patients there. it seemed like repeated material. overall, it's better than the last place i'd gone to, but honestly i'd recommend looking for another place to go, especially if you're in a really bad place mentally.

I went here about 4 years ago and my experience was absolutely awful. The exposure therapy only made my anxiety worse. The therapist I had, Rachel, was extremely rude and very unskilled. She acted annoyed when I told her about anything. This place should be shut down.
