My husband saved this bunny from the median off 285 this afternoon. It had a cut/flesh wound on its leg and maybe its back leg was broken too. He took it to a nearby vet who said they could only humanely euthanize it and recommended we research wildlife rehabbers. We called Rocky Mountain Wildlife and left a message and they returned our call very quickly. They said they would do what they could to get the bunny back in action. They were f closing soon for the day but stayed open long enough for us to make the 1 hour drive to them. Fingers crossed this little bunny will be hopping again soon.

After reading reviews, I decided to bring them a baby squirrel I had found, nearly dead, and had nursed back to health. He was full of vigor, playful, though his tail remained gimpy. I wanted him to have social interaction and play with other squirrels his age, and eventually be set free. I dropped him off and several days later, called to check on him. When I didn't hear back, I sent a text. I then received a text telling me they had put down "the animal" due to "it's" debilitated condition and suffering. I was completely heartbroken and angry, as that did not describe his condition at all. He was full of life and energetic. Later, after writing my initial, one star, review, I was contacted by Emily. She sincerely apologized for the text I had been sent. She explained the actual reason he was put down and how it had been a hard decision. (Although he was not in pain, his tail needed to be amputated. For a number of reasons, they don't release squirrels without tails, and there are no sanctuaries available) I do appreciate her making an effort to reach out and discuss my, less than ideal, experience. For that reason, I decided to update my review. I know it costs money to amputate, and that squirrels need their tails but, I feel like he would have adapted, given the chance.

Sometime in August, 2024 I found 3 baby squirrels at the base of the tree in my front yard. I took them in because it was getting dark. Each day I set the box out at the tree and waited to see if their mother would come looking. Unfortunately I could not find her. I got squirrel formula and fed them while I called around. Most places didn't respond or said they do not take squirrels, but after about a week I found Rocky Mountain Wildlife Alliance and they were happy to take them.

We brought them to the facility and right away I could tell the work they do is important to them. As a lover and conservationist of wildlife, this made me feel at ease. My daughter and I had become attached to them and I wanted to make sure they were in the best care.

My young daughter wanted to keep them, but I explained to her that the facility would provide them with better care than we could and they would also teach them the skills needed for survival. Furthermore, it's illegal to keep wild animals.

I asked the facility if they could possibly return them to the tree where they were found once they were ready for release. They said they would do their best. I gave them a donation to help with their care and we went on our way.

Weeks later they contacted me to say they were ready for release and asked if I would I be willing to come get them to put back into the tree in my yard. They said the 3 I brought had been living with 3 other squirrels and wondered if I would be willing to take all 6. I was delighted of course!

The facility provided me with a nesting box which I secured over 15 feet up the tree. It is such a pleasure to watch them each day, foraging for food in the yard and then returning to their nesting box for the evening.

I am very grateful for such a place that truly respects and cares about wildlife, providing animals with the care they need, an environment where they are safe, and work to prepare them for life outside in the wild. Thank you for this experience and thank you for all that you do!

Amazing rescue for animals. I wouldn’t have had the knowledge or tools to take care of the little baby hummingbird I found on a busy sidewalk and seemed to be separated from his family. I was so happy to find a place to take him and get him strong and reintroduced to the wild.

This great group helped a nestling Robin survive after I rescued it. It had been thrown out of its nest by high winds. With predators in the area it wasn't safe to leave him, and there was no sign of the nest or parents. I was able to check in with them a few days later and heard the little bird was doing well in their care.

They took in a baby bird we saved from a nest that had been power washed. Hours later while sweeping my patio, I found this little baby. They were able to take it in and hopefully it lived 🤞🏼🤞🏼

My boyfriend and I found this injured squirrel in my yard last weekend. RMWA was the first wildlife refuge to pop up on Google for us, so we took a chance and called them. They’re pretty busy so they didn’t answer, but we left a voicemail/sent them a text and were responded to within 30 minutes! They told us to bring the squirrel in asap, so we did. This was on a Sunday so even on weekends they are very responsive. I dropped the little angel off and they were SO kind, quick and informative regarding care. The center is in Sedalia tucked away on a dirt road, but it’s very clean and the volunteers were so helpful and friendly. They even gave me a card and an ID # for the squirrel for an update within 48hrs! Unfortunately he had to be put down, given his injuries were pretty severe. But we knew this from the start. They did as much as they could and made the right decision to end his suffering. This was my first experience with this agency and I’m so happy to have chosen them to bring this little animal in.
Thanks for everything y’all do! I will definitely be back if I ever find another creature that needs some TLC.

Really great people here. Nice facility. They took in a hurt sparrow I brought them. They have a number you can text when you have an emergency.
