This is a museum with a great cause, preserving the history of the Rio Grande Southern line. This small line had such an interesting story as it tacked some of the most treacherous terrain in all of Colorado. This museum is also home to some of the famous Galloping Geese, unique creations to solve unique issues in their day. They have done some outstanding restoration work on they few pieces of rolling stock they have. Even more so their stewardship of historic records and archives is great. Please do take the time to stop by and give them some support! During Railroad week in september they even offer rides on the geese! A rare and very special treat.

Excellent opportunity to learn a 19/20th century railroading and life in the Rockies. Weekend operation of a demonstration loop track using historic equipment.

This is a great museum that provides lots of information about the Rio Grande Southern and Denver And Rio Grande Western railroads. The volunteers are more then happy to tell you a story or too about these railroads, and the museum also contains information about the location of many historic railroad sites, such as water tanks and trestles. They have a fully operational replica of the original Galloping Goose, that you can ride around their custom built loop, and they will soon be getting a working steam engine as well. Great place to visit, 100% worth your time. They are also rebuilding a steam locomotive

These guys have a nice museum and did a terrific job of restoring the Telluride Galloping Goose #4. Thanks for bringing your Goose #1 to the gatherings in Golden. I got to ride in it a few years ago.

Came here from KY to see the #4 Goose. Getting to ride it was a dream come true. Everyone here is so friendly and the knowledge they share is unbelievable. We drove from Silverton worth the drive. Highly recommend! They only run equipment on Saturday's.
