There's a huge chance your credits won't transfer to any university other than Eastern. It's a waste of time if you want to go anywhere else, as you'll have to retake most classes. The staff are nice people, but amongst the students it's very cliquey. Just not great

Received and Associates of Arts and Associates of Science from here. The staff are professional, knowledgeable and made the learning experience fun. Their testing center made it easy to schedule and take my CLEP exams. This is a great community college for anyone looking for educational options.

I have taken classes here and I have also worked here. The people that work on this campus are there because they truly care about the students. They have a vested interested in the outcome of each graduating class because they live in the community and want the best for each student that comes out of it. I would highly encourage anyone considering in enrolling at RLC to do it. You will get a wonderful education from individuals who will be there to help you along the way.

If you want a degree while putting in 0 effort this is the college for you. Half the staff are the meanest people I have ever met. They treat students like grade schoolers. As for the professors most just dont care. A girl in my 1st class has came in 50 minutes late on a daily basis over the semester and is counted as present every day. It's literally a 1:20 minute class. I'm glad I am done at this college I have not learned much but have met some awesome people the only classes I have had that where worth anything are math and sociology. Its upsetting I sunk loads of money into this place and I got a sub par education. If you are in sports on the other hand this college will kiss your a** and hold your hand through the classes. Unless you are in sports this college will treat you like garbage. Thank God for the guy who can hit a ball with a stick even though he has the IQ of a Turkey sandwich.

I had the great pleasure of meeting an extraordinary female college volleyball / basketball player today. Her name is Amaya.. She was bold, mannerisms and vocabulary were impeccable.. The school is doing something right. Keep it up.

Beginning in 1973, receiving a degree or certificate every three semesters was a great investment; but, then any hours over 18 per semester did not increase your tuition. --- Have returned a few years ago and now back again brushing up my skills for SIU-C. Theory, Piano, Classical Guitar, Organ, Voice, Violin and Collegiate Choir. Fun schedule and not so heavy as to deteriorate my disability problems. Come back. Take a course. Bring a friend and have a great time learning. I am a student lifer, continuing onward now for about 18 years in college as a student or instructor. I have seen Rend Lake College grow, severally decline in courses and degrees; and now, it is an inspiration to all. Come along and join us. (Remember if you are over 60 years old, no tuition charges. What better deal can one get?)

I graduated from here with my Associate of Arts. Upon entry I had 52 credits from Arkansas and I was on phi thetta kappa but i was told many of my credits did not transfer. After 2 years at Black River in AR and 1 year here at Rend Lake I called the office @ Rend Lake to ask why my credits did not transfer since i was learning the exact same things as I did in arkansas. Suddenly my transcripts were "evaluated" and I had 2 more classes to go. In this year I had car issues and missed 6 days of school: i had 3 young childeren and was a single mom with a blown head gasket in the motor of my van. NONE of those things were considered and as a result I recieved 'C's instead of 'B's in all 4 classes and no longer qualified for phi thetta kappa...all because of classes i wasnt supposed to take again....all because someone failed to evaluate my transcripts. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because theres a few teachers there i really like. The phi thetta kappa teacher however, was not one of those teachers i liked. That man is very judgmental and should not be telling his class about his friend's divorce and how he didn't approve of his friend living with his girlfriend while his friend was still legally married...not to mention cussing in his lecture. I would not send my children here if i can ever help from doing so.
