My oldest son attended Real Red Riding Hoods Forest school through a summer, fall and winter session. He absolutely loved it there and made so many wonderful memories. He would ask to go back every day. We loved that there were lots of other homeschooling families and the fact that child led play was at the forefront of the experience. This program is such a gift for children. I watched my son grow and become more confident after his time at Cheyenne Canyon and rock climbing. We love the staff and wish we could take the program with us along our travels. We will miss you all!

My oldest child has participated in Real Red Riding Hoods for nearly one year—through winter, spring and summer. It has easily been the most incredible, unique and educational experience of his childhood to this point. Maria and crew are so thoughtful and creative in their instruction. I love hearing about all they do both through my son's retelling and the weekly email digest with plenty of amazing pictures. During my son's time with the program, his confidence has really grown along with his enthusiasm and appreciation for nature. I couldn't be more grateful to Real Red Riding Hoods!

Real Red Riding Hoods Forest School was a dream come true for our family. We started when it was at the cabin in Palmer Lake and then continued down in Cheyenne Canyon. Both locations had magical qualities and benefits and if we had stayed in Colorado I would have been thrilled to have days in both locations. My children are very high energy/active/physical and spending the day in nature being active was exactly what they needed. Even doing more focused work out in nature was better for them. They LOVED going to school and looked forward to it so much. And they were always proud to tell people about their school and how they were out in the forest for hours in any kind of weather. Maria is SO incredibly gifted at working with children and creating an environment that fosters creativity and interest in learning, while allowing the children freedom to follow their own interests too. While we were there Kelsey was the main program assistant and she was amazing as well, connecting with the children and feeling like a friend not just a teacher. Maria’s creative approaches to teaching a variety of topics in a fun, playful manner was awe-inspiring and I only wish we could package this school and take it wherever we go on our adventures!

The Forest school that Ms. Maria offers to children is absolutely incredible. Her teacher aides add even more benefits to what my son got to experience in the Forest school.
There was hiking, rock climbing, kids enjoying being kids. Learning about nature and appreciating what our earth has given us. Respect for the things and people around us.
My son has learned about different types of plants, flowers, trees, bugs, animals and with this has learned Spanish and what it truly means to embrace your surroundings. When he got to go to the cabin he LOVED that as well. They got to work in a garden, learn to prepare food, build projects using tools with the help of an instructor, they had a musician come and play music while the kids worked and played around the cabin. It’s a community and it brought that feeling back. What an amazing gift.
I would definitely recommend this school to anyone and everyone who’s interested in the beauty and nature of our state and wants to teach their children to cherish it so it continues to stay this way. I’m so grateful my son got to experience such a positive environment.

My kids have loved being a part of the Forest School and we have witnessed so much growth, confidence, creativity and curiosity develop in them! They have experienced so much that can’t be replicated in a classroom and their appreciation and wonder for nature and the world around us has grown exponentially.

All three kids of mine attended the school. They loved it every second of their stay. The teachers care the kids very much, and the programs they had kept my kids engaged for all day. They say they can't wait till summer to spend more time at the school. I highly recommend it.
