I'm deeply disappointed with Primrose of Ken Caryl. During our tour in September 2024, we were told we'd be placed on a call list for the waitlist and couldn't put down a deposit. We believed we were on the list and would be contacted when spots opened. However, we were never given the chance to pay the registration fee or tuition.

The miscommunication about the waitlist process is troubling and unfortunate as we were led to believe it was first come, first serve, but found out they accepted others that paid the deposit in place of us and now are booking out for their infant class in August of 2026. This lack of clear communication has caused confusion and frustration for our family.

I share this review to caution others considering Primrose of Ken Caryl for their child's care since we now missed 5 months of finding another space for our daughter in a timely manner. Hopefully they improve their communication and customer experience for families. If they have you on a waitlist and you paid the deposit, then maybe it is fine, but do not accept that they are considerate to call you (as communicated to us) when spots on the actual wait list became available.

We are so pleased with Primrose! The communication is clear and consistent. Jeneane and/or Ali are always there to greet us at the door and they have awareness of the activities and status of all the classrooms - they are very involved. The classrooms are clean and open. All of the teachers we have interacted with (young toddler and Early Preschool) have been warm and engaging. They are always engaging with the children, not just watching them.

Overall, average. Jeanine, the director, is kind and empathetic. She is also flexible which we appreciated. She allowed me to move back my infant’s start date due to a HFM outbreak in the infant room! What a gem.

Preschool 1- Our child was in this class, and the two main teachers did not prioritize enthusiasm with the kids in the morning. Always a hi, but rarely a smile. Not mean, but not excited. It set the tone for the whole day and we were used to a daycare culture that’s excited about kids.

We did appreciate the one time our child was throwing up and the teachers showed a lot of compassion. They also let him play in basketball when he wasn’t signed up (after he just started going). This meant so much and TOTs was amazing. The teachers also took great pictures of him and sent them consistently.

They overlooked our child occasionally- one time- he came home with a pull up on from nap time.. another, I saw him get bullied by two boys in his class while the teachers weren’t paying attention on the playground. We brought this to their attention asking to keep an eye on what was going on and keep us informed. Although at first they seemed very concerned, they never gave us one update on this. Our son told us a boy at school would scratch and hit him, but we never were able to get the inside scoop on what was truly happening. His reports were “he did good today!”, but rarely more. We would have loved just a bit more of what was going on through his teachers.

One time, I tried dropping him off towards the beginning of nap (which I had done at our old primrose). I was reprimanded by the teacher upon entry who didn’t acknowledge my son. It was super uncomfortable. At our old primrose, the teachers whispered his name excitedly and ushered him onto his cot. It was not disruptive- not nearly as much so as a teacher reprimanding a parent. Although Jeanine said she would talk to this teacher (and the teacher did try to approach me about this a few days later), she didn’t offer to let us come back after nap- just a see you tomorrow! I was told kids need to be dropped off by 9:30 or told if a child will be later for staffing purposes… I’m paying for full time daycare so I think it should be staffed for full time daycare at all times. I don’t pay less when my child is not there. And I also feel like I should be able to drop my kid off after 9:30 (even if it can’t be during nap).

Per Jeanine- this is all in the handbook, however, our old Primrose had no problem with the it as mentioned so we didn’t even think to check and see if it was allowed. It was such a non issue there. I feel like this situation could have been handled much better at Primrose KC on their end.

The infant room- very chaotic when I stepped in to see it and when we walked by to drop off our son in the mornings. So much so, that we did not end up sending our baby here and scrambled to find alternative childcare. Jeanine assured me it settled down after 9, but I don’t feel good about dropping my baby off at 7:30 before the infant room main teachers are there. A different primrose I toured (and our previous one), always had extra staff in rooms to allow for stable mornings, alongside consistency when teachers were out for vacation. I much prefer that- although this would raise tuition. My advice is to tour this baby room in the morning to see if it meets your comfort level

Our child was safe here (although I still wonder if he was bullied), but we are seeking more out of daycare. We love daycare cultures that are excited about kids and all about getting to deeply know them. We found a better fit for our family elsewhere and our child is once again excited to go to daycare like he used to be. I think kids pick up more than we realize about culture.

This Primrose was more affordable than other Primrose options. I would rather pay more for more staff but others may not. A culture excited about kids shouldn’t have to cost more. Again, Jeanine is amazing so it is a bummer that didn’t carry through the culture here from our experience.

We love Primrose Ken Caryl! Our child has been in daycare since he was an infant and we've always had a wonderful experience here. Each classroom set up and daily activities are thoughtfully designed and age appropriate. We've had an excellent experiences with all the teachers, who show they genuinely care about our child's wellbeing. We have also had a great experience with the administrative staff. I would recommend Primrose Ken Caryl to all families searching for a well run and caring daycare facility.

They are a great daycare. We enrolled our child for summer and she love it. She was always eager to go back the next day. They have great communication and keep us informed of all our child did throughout the day. The facility was clean and well maintained. The staff was always friendly and the teachers were really kind and seemingly all the staff knew my child’s name! Great place!

My wife and I recently started our son at Primrose, and being a new parent with all the options of childcare out there it is a bit intimidating. Upon touring the school, we noticed how clean, bright, and welcoming the school itself was. The directors and office manager are all very friendly, helpful and kind. We immediately felt comfortable. The extra security to get into the building is also a peace of mind. The teachers are also amazing, and I am so happy upon our decision to go with Primrose Ken Caryl. Our son lights up every time we take him to school, and we get updates throughout the day on how his day is and what he is learning. It is great to see pictures of him smiling and interacting with other children throughout the day. Each day that passes we fall more and more in love with this school and rest assured we absolutely made the right decision in our choice of educational childcare! If you are debating on where to go, you won't be disappointed with this school and their wonderful staff!

My son has been attending Primrose for a little over a year. The development that we have seen in him far exceeded his previous school. It is obvious that the staff and administration truly love their jobs, and the kids that they teach. I am excited about the new music classes that they are offering for the kids as well. If you are looking for a structured, supportive, loving environment for your child, I highly recommend that you check out Primrose of Ken Caryl.

My two grandkids go to Primrose of Ken Caryl. I love it. It warms my heart to see how happy the kids are to go everyday. They learn so much and seem to truly love learning there. They have fun, they learn and are loved. Both seem to have wonderful friends. I couldn’t ask for a better environment. Thank you to everyone who makes the experience come together in a such a wonderful way. I’m sure our experience will get even richer as Covid allows more interaction.
Professional, kind and fun. Thank you!!!
