I absolutely love this resource center and everyone that I have seen and talk to you or asked questions to has been absolutely amazing! If you need help in Portola , these are definitely the people that are going to help you out!

They have so many self service options such as computer use, laundry service that saved my life when my washer broke, job search, copy & fax machine avaiability, several types of counseling referrals. and Christy who runs the front desk is always willing to help whoever walks through the door.

Honestly the Ladies that work there are the nicest , caring, honest and helpful Women I've met in a very long time. They go out of they're way to help people and at a time like me this it's good to see that they're are still people out there that really do care! Thank you Ladies❣️

The people are nice, but sadly the main office in Quincy has decided to try on numerous occasions to shut down Portola site.. and due to their efforts their has been many downfalls as of lately..
There is no longer a telephone number to call..
They no longer can offer any form of help to locals who reside here in Portola, Graeagle, Beckworth, Vinton or Chilcoot California because for some time now you must drive all the way down to Quincy (30 miles away) to have any hope of receiving any form of help. (Which comes from local, state & government grants for counties within California, as well as specific communities..
They no longer have computers for public use.. nor do they offer the use of a telephone for those needed to make important calls to welfare or utility companies for those who do not have a phone of their own..
Portola is one of the poorest communities within Plumas County California.. But sadly it seems as though the grants made available to our community have been withheld from the community and those here who are in desperate need of those funds.. And just as many other situations in the past, the funds that were made available for use by the community of Portola and the citizens who call this small city in the mountains our home... Somehow the funds were shifted and taken to Quincy to be implemented for use by those who reside in the town of Quincy, and when those who control the funds decide that a citizen from Portola has jumped through enough hoops or satisfied those in charge.. Then, and only then, is a very small portion of the grant money made available for use by a member of our community..
