Great deal for the price. About what you can expect. Location is great within walking distance from many restaurants and shops. Only 30 minute drive from wolf creek ski area. The rooms need some updating and the one we stayed in had some very poorly done repairs. The heater was broke and you could not turn it down so our room was extremely hot. I was not told of this when we booked the room. Could use more places to store skis/snowboards and to hang ski clothes. The room was pretty small in general. The shower was spacious but the door did not close and it leaked on one side a little bit. The owner was a little rude when we asked for extra towels. The banana bread at breakfast was awesome but the rest of the breakfast was lacking. Just cereal and some bruised fruit. Would stay here again if we needed a cheap place to stay.

It helps to know what you are looking for when you travel somewhere...and when I go to Pagosa Springs, I am looking for something just like the Pinewood Inn! I've been staying at this motel for about 18 years. It is very basic. There are, of course, some improvements I would like to see (e.g. new, firmer mattresses), but I am happy to be able to walk out of the property and to the springs, to the river, and to many restaurants in the vicinity. There are a variety of rooms: some with kitchenettes, some in which pets can stay, some with extra space, some with larger televisions. If you're particular, ask to see a few. A few weeks ago I stayed at an amazing resort in New Mexico, that has garnered 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor, and my expectations were high. (And, they were met.) At the Pinewood Inn, my expectations are lower, but they're also different. (And they are also met.) I always get friendly service and I know the rooms will be clean. That's enough for me here, at the Pinewood Inn, which feels old-timey and is what I am looking for. They did raise the prices, pretty considerably, over the past few years. I don't begrudge them...it's what that market will bear. But I do hope some of the additional revenue will eventually make it back onto the property in the form of a few comfort upgrades! (e.g. new firmer mattresses 🙂

This is not a fancy place at all, but it is a place to sleep and it has one of the best locations and best prices for the town. We stayed here in August and my main complaint was that I was hot all night. The overhead fan was scarily wobbling and the wall fan just didn't do the job. ||||BUT - we walked all over town, enjoyed the nearby brewery and didn't have to drive anywhere. The overall room wasn't bad and had a nostalgic charm. The bathroom was very nice and there was a good TV, a fridge and a microwave.||||I will stay here again - all based on the location.

Was surprised to see all the positive reviews. The location was great and the price per night very reasonable, but it was a dump. The floor was rotted out near the entrance looked like termite damage. The shower was small, dark and cramped tried to avoid contact to the shower wall as it was covered in mold. Had to sleep in my clothes, place was just nasty.

The Pinewood Inn is old, and the rooms reflect this. It is clean and offers a very convenient downtown location, close to the Springs and several restaurants. Most motels require entry through a lobby and then to a guest room. The Pinewood has individual entrances from the parking lot. This is advantageous for a skier because one can park outside the room entrance, thus allowing easy transfer of equipment to the room, rather than carrying equipment and luggage through a lobby to a room.||The benefits of a Pinewood stay are location, parking close to the room with an outside entrance and price. The disadvantages are that the rooms are old and very basic, no luxuries provided here.I will definitely stay here in the future, based on many past experiences.

Fantastic experience all around. Great pricing and even better service. Great location in the heart of beautiful Pagosa Springs, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating of all of our needs. Only downside is that we only got 1/2 small bottle of shampoo and 3/4 small bottle of conditioner for our 3-night stay. Felt like home away from home. Would recommend to anyone staying in Pagosa Springs.

No air conditioning. A fan fastened on the wall needed two extension cords to reach the plugin. They have plastic on the mattresses, so it's noisy when you move. Otherwise the beds were comfortable. Pricey for what you get. Did not partake of the breakfast. Walked up to a wonderful bakery cafe about a block and half up the highway. The door knob on the bathroom door fell off when I pulled the door open.

My room was horrible. First, the deadbolt lock didn't work. (This is probably a violation of the hospitality law.) The 2nd thing, when I laid in bed, the bed would slump at an angle. Mattress & box springs wore plum out. 3rd, the sink in bathroom was cracked & unsightly. 4th, the carpet needs shampooing because while the floor looked vacuumed, a fine grit would get on the soles of your bare feet. 5th, no A/C. You have to keep the windows open. If you want to close the windows in the summer to keep out noise, the room becomes unbearably hot. you have a problem. Bottom line: look elsewhere. No way it's worth near the $80/night.
