I feel like it’s time to share my truth about Parker Dance Academy. I was a student here for 12 years. In that time I built my love for dance and built a community that I called family. Parker Dance was my home away from home. I grew very close to the owner Kim Kinnear. I cherished our relationship and the love that she showed me. I felt so close to her, I thought of her as a grandmother. Almost a year ago Kim turned my life upside down. My parents were in the process of buying the studio from her. They gave her a large amount of money towards the purchase and used a large sum of their own money to update the space. After Nutcracker last year my mom was fired and the contract was broken. Kim took my parents money and their dreams of owning the studio. Kim also lied to families about what really happened causing my sister and I to lose some of our closest dance friends. This action shattered my world and made me almost completely lose my passion and love for dance. I want people to know what she did to our family and how it personally affected me. This is not a nurturing environment for young dancers. There are far better studios in Parker and surrounding areas. There are also better owners who have more integrity and love for their students.

I was a student here, I have also worked here as an employee and independent contractor off and on since graduating. Over the span of 20 years, I have worked closely with several iterations of staff members, students, parents, and alumni. The feeling here has been consistently nurturing, thoughtful, reliable, professional, one of community, and undoubtedly creative. Several alumni have gone on to dance professionally all over the world; which to me is quite impressive, coming from seemingly random Parker Colorado of all places. I myself have also been hired for professional jobs, including performing in Amsterdam and Los Angeles, solely based on the training I received here. Parker Dance Academy truly offers an invaluable dance education, allowing plentiful opportunity for understanding dance as far deeper than something just for competition; but as an art form and a place to learn and integrate self discipline, perseverance, collaboration, confidence, creativity, and generosity. I cannot say better things about this establishment, it helped me develop some of the best parts of myself as a dancer and a human being.

Parker Dance academy has helped me become an amazing dancer . Parker Dance isn’t only where I go to dance it’s were I have made so many friends , and had so much fun in my classes . I still have years yet to come and plan to be spending them at PDA .

As a student and teacher in training at this studio, I have felt nothing but love and support in all forms of dance especially tap. It is well known at the studio that I love tap and it is definitely one of my favorite styles. We have had a lot of teachers go through our tap program and each one brings something new to the table and it helps us as students grow in many different directions. Our competition tap company has always been wonderful and really shows how talented our tap dancers are. With the Covid-19 pandemic going around, we decided to do a dance film series instead of our normal recital. For all the tap levels, we decided to focus on a specific move and how we can create counter rhythms and poly rhythms using this specific step. I got the honor of working with our tap teacher, Ms.Claire in creating all the dances for Tap 3, 4, and 5. Our tap company was given a major challenge with this film series because we had one week to establish our move and the counter rhythms and while it wasn't perfect, our company did the best they could and pulled it off beautifully. I would highly recommend coming to Parker Dance Academy for all styles of dance, not just our amazing tap program.

I've been dancing at PDA for 13 years and I absolutely love it here. I completely recommend this studio for anyone looking for a more authentic outlook on dance that doesn't just focus on the competition side like most studios do. My twin sister and I have been part of the tap program for 8 years competing tap duets and I can say that it's a very loving community and overall very fun. The teachers are all professionals (not just in tap) and the community inside the studio is basically like a family. Because of the recent pandemic, PDA has come up with creative ways to keep the students dancing, including the "Dance Film Series" which makes music videos out of dances that the teachers and students create. For example, our Tap 8 film was a dance based off of the rhythm and timing of one move made into a complete 2-minute dance. We originally had something more based off of "Aladdin" which was supposed to be our recital this year, but as a company (and our teacher Ms.Claire) decided to focus on showing timing and rhythm techniques with a more laid back costume that worked better with what we were doing.
PDA is still finding ways to keep the students going and I would completely recommend it if you want your kid to have an authentic and fun experience growing up in the dance world!
