Very knowledgeable, friendly, and informative! We learned a lot about the history! They go out of their way to give you information. They have great programs too! The museum is free, but they accept donations. The special presentations have a small fee, but it's worth it plus there's snacks with the presentations.

Came to Ottawa for vacation and didn't know this museum was in town. My son just crossed over from Cub to Boy Scouts so this was a perfect place to visit.

The attendant was very knowledgeable and presented the various exhibits. The gift shop has some unique and historic items in scouting history.

Great history and memorabilia. I never knew about the Lone Scout program. There was also a lot about Batten Powell and the Wood Badge program. It also covers the Girl Scouting program.

A very large with well organized, very informative and interesting displays. All the wars are covered with real local artifacts, including a a newly acquired WW1 uniform! Basic local history that even this long time local did not know! The biggest bonus is the volunteers who are passionate and know every square inch of every display with great detail and make it all come to life even more. Also, they change displays and currently for the veteran display they spent days painstakingly set up. It is so worth visiting. There is something for everyone. I easily spent 2 hours in there and did not scratch the surface!

About all I knew about Ottawa history was the Lincoln Douglas debate and the Illinois Michigan Canal but this museum (two museums actually!) offers a lot more information and depth about the people and events that make Ottawa more than just another river town. Great displays on the appalling “radium girls” story, silica sand, marbles and glass making, and an incredible and comprehensive display and history of American Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts. Outstanding docents Dan and Roy who make history come alive with the stories and personalities of William Boyce and General WHL Wallace. I will definitely come back because I did not have time to see everything on this visit. Highly recommend!

Very nice museum. The LARGEST Lone Scout exhibit I have ever seen. Being in the hometown of the founder of BSA and Lone Scouts, that is no surprise. William Boyce display is also very well done. "Dan" was our docent and very helpful.
