One-Timers is hands-down the BEST bar prep course out there. As a foreign-trained attorney, I was nervous about tackling the California Bar Exam, but Jason’s materials and explanations made everything clear and easy to understand. Jason Tolerico is the reason I passed the bar exam on my first try. If you’re having doubts about which bar prep course to take I hope you consider this review.

I graduated from a CBA accredited law school where the bar pass rates are lower than ABA accredited schools. I started One Timers with a solid foundation of the law but this course simplified concepts in a way that really helped me understand the law. More importantly, the course taught me what the bar exam is, how it works, and how to take the exam!

This course has an entire schedule from start to finish so you don’t have to guess where you should be at as far as your studying goes. Jason goes as far as to send out daily messages to remind you of what you should be studying that day. This was extremely helpful because I never fell behind. The materials that Jason provides are not your average bar prep books. There are tons of examples, simple explanations, charts, and it is all organized in a way that makes sense. Not only are there physical book materials but also an online portal that has his video lectures. In addition, Jason always makes himself available to answer any questions you have, I’ve never heard of another bar prep course that does that. There are weekly meetings, one on zoom and another on Saturdays in person. Prior to those meetings Jason provides practice essays and multiple choice questions. Come prepared, and you will be just fine. After each section you’ll be assigned a simulated essay and simulated multiple choice questions. The essays are graded just like the bar exam and the graders include feedback.

I passed the CA Bar Exam after taking One-Timers twice and I am extremely grateful to Jason and Ethan.
Very quickly, I realized Jason was the GOAT of the Bar Exam and I forced myself to agree with everything he said about how to prepare for it.
During the first time, I made sure I understood the material discussed in class to get the foundation of the course. My MBE score improved significantly, but I didn't pass.
The second time, I was able to go through class material faster and completed the daily assignments by the end of each week or during the second half of the course when the schedule allowed me to catch up.
The cost was an obstacle, but Ethan helped me with the payment plan, which turned out to be the best money I’ve ever spent.

Pay him if you wanna be insulted by him so then he can deny and lie about it later. I had a disgusting experience with Jason One Timer when I called him on November 12, 2024, around 10:55pm to learn more about his bar prep program. When I reached out, I expected a professional and supportive conversation, but I was instead met with hostility and aggression, which left me feeling disrespected. Throughout the 13-minute conversation, I felt verbally assaulted and was shocked by his reaction to my simple, straightforward questions. (P.S. I am not a sensitive person.)

I asked about the program structure and how he prepares students, especially with recent changes in the state bar exam, mentioning that a few top students from my school who took OneTimer program didn't pass. I was curious if recent exam changes could explain the results or impact this particular bar exam and maybe that's why our top law students did not pass this time.

However, he took my question personally like an insecure person. He started yelling at me that I am tired of people like you telling me just because they did not pass the bar it's because Jason did something wrong and blah blah blah...He talked badly of his students, saying I looked at her essay and I don't know why she "bombed her essay." Why don't you go ask them?! Despite his raised voice, I remained calm, trying to validate his points, but he wouldn't even let me finish my sentence.

When I asked how he prepares students for the MBE section and whether his program included video explanations like Themis or Barbri, he became even more enraged, accusing me of daring to compare his course to others. I apologized and explained that I was just trying to determine which program best fits my needs. He got crazy again then yelled, "I don't even want you to sign up for my program. Go sign up with them then come back crying about how terrible they were."

My fiancé called him today to address the way he spoke to me, especially considering the vulnerability and stress students face during bar prep. However, Jason denied everything and claimed I had been rude, which wasn't true, as my fiancé kept telling him that he was next to me during the conversation and could confirm that I wasn't being rude at all. Jason just didn't like my questions.

Therefore, if he's willing to lie even when he knows my fiancé was present, I'm sure he's lying to others as well by claiming I was rude to justify his unstable behavior. I feel sorry for those who still choose to work with him, especially when there are negative reviews. Google his name and see it yourself. If he can't handle a few simple questions from a potential client, I can't imagine how he would treat you during the course.

Preparing for the bar exam is already challenging, and I was looking for a program that could provide support, not add to my stress. His defensive and confrontational attitude, especially when faced with basic, relevant questions, made me seriously question his suitability as an instructor.

If this type of behavior doesn't bother you, then by all means, pay him to insult and belittle students. I just wanted to share my experience so you can make an informed choice about what you're getting into.

Oh, by the way, when I shared my experience with the Dean of our law school, they even called Jason personally to inform him that he is not welcome at our school at any time, especially since he had planned to come to campus to collect payments from students who had signed up.

Hopefully, by sharing my experience, he learns his lesson and treats others better to prove me wrong. But I doubt he can change...

I must start off saying this "the existence of One-Timers is truly a blessing." One-Timers has really worked for me after I was unsuccessful with major bar prep courses. I would like to shout out to Jason who works tremendously hard to ensure that his students understand the concept and learn its application, so no matter how difficult the questions would be in the bar exam, one could easily solve. His teaching as to how to attack the essays and its critical break-down is invaluable and his MBE strategies is a huge contributing factor to my success. Jason has the drive to help you at any given time during the course and will remain with you until you mastered the materials. His focus is what you will see on the exam day rather than inundating you with concepts you will never see. I would seriously recommend One-Timers to anyone whether first-timers or repeaters. No bar prep course could even come close to One-Timers. I regret not signing up with One-Timers right after my law school.

It's simple. If you're serious about passing the bar, you should take One-Timers. I approached Jason as a repeat taker. I was very skeptical after taking several commercial courses and using expensive tutors. I took One-Timers once and I passed.

The main difference between Jason's course and other courses is the quality of the materials and Jason himself. The materials focus on the essential information and get straight to the core of the issues. I learned more in this course than I did in some of my 1L classes, despite attending a good school. Jason explains concepts in a way that makes them easily applicable on exams and the MBEs. He is available to everyone in the class like a personal tutor – it's unclear if he ever sleeps.

I wasted a lot of time trying to do it my way. When I followed Jason’s directions to the T, I passed after several years of disappointments. For this reason, I strongly encourage anyone taking the bar to take One-Timers.

I never ever thought I would ever pass the California Bar. I failed a few times. I tried Barbri but it didn't really help. The program at OneTimers is amazing and so much better than any other program out there. With their program I was able to pass. Their program is unique, it tells you what you need to know and doesn't waste your time trying to learn every small unimportant thing. One of the best decisions in my life was to take One-Timers for my Bar prep. Jason has simplified the law and made his outlines easy to read and understand. His MBE questions with its explanations are a game changer because he teaches you how to eliminate wrong answers and shows how to solve tricky questions. You will also get a graded assignment once a week with a detailed feedback and 24/7 support from Jason (I emailed him at 2am and he called me to explain Mortgages from Property), so I felt like I have a private tutor. The most crucial thing to understand is that taking any course is not a guarantee that you will pass. You have to practice and follow Jason's instructions. When Jason told us to do 1-2 essays a day for practice, I was doing 4-5, but I learnt from his explanations and critical breakdowns provided after each essay or MBE. If you feel like you need more time to study and his regular course is too intense, then take an early bird option and study with no rush. I sat for the bar calmly and confidently because One-Timers prepared me for almost all outcomes and scenarious. This course gives you everything you need to pass the exam.
