Horrible Hospital untrustworthy staff (Liars) on my day of a procedure, while in recovering I went into respiratory distress , alarm sounding I was quickly losing oxygen no one was coming my daughter ran out of the room to ask what was going on at that point nurses started rushing to the room, emergency call went out, as I was struggling to breathe, a STAT call went out for a Respiratory therapist, I had to be suction, wasn’t waking up everyone went into a panic. In the midst of the suction the therapist stop and answered his phone and continue talking the nurse stepped in and took over, calling my name constantly I finally respond then were told I could get dress and wait for discharge papers.
My daughter asked what happened, Nurse “oh she has asthma.” 😲never was diagnosed with asthma. Days later looked in Mychart to see the post-op report, no documentation, to no avail was I successful in getting that info charted, rec’d a letter later stating they follow all protocol and didn’t have to chart it.🤫🫢WOW!

My mom went in for surgery after months of appointments and countless tests that cost thousands of dollars out of her pocket. The day of surgery George Havelka (he doesn't even deserve the title of Dr) came in after she already spoke with the anesthesiologist, already hooked up to IVs and electrodes TEN MINUTES before surgery and asked about her pain. When she stated where her pain was he was in a huff stating this surgery won't fix that pain. As if my mom hadn't talked about this pain THE ENTIRE TIME. He spoke incredibly rude to my mom when she's already in a vulnerable position acting like this was some elective surgery she was having and not two 100% blockages that had to be addressed regardless. He left and came back about ten minutes later and to say this sorry excuse for a man had a temper tantrum that of a toddler would be an understatement. He was yelling and waving his arms in a huff saying he's not doing this surgery. Mind you we are in a pre op area..not a private room with people hearing my mom's medical problems. We simply asked if you weren't going to do this surgery then why are we here ? And apparently his Napoleon complex ego didn't like that. He was cruel and belligerent. I did submit a complaint to the hospital and they brushed it off and stated that "he will be coached". Sad world we live in that doctors can treat people this way and get away from it. Stay away from this hospital and stay away from George Havelka.

I’ve come to this hospital for over 30 years. It has always been the best. The doctors here are knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. Recently, I was sent to the hospital emergency room by my doctor. The hospital was overcrowded so I was put in an overflow room. (What that means is you are in a closet size room that even the nurses have great difficulty getting their equipment in.) I didn’t mind the room as much as having to use a public restroom as my bathroom. The 2 public restrooms available need to be cleaned many more times than they are. They were constantly dirty. I have had covid 3 times. I shouldn’t have to worry about getting it in a hospital. Having to use a public restroom facility is inexcusable. In the 4 days I was there I was not offered a clean sheet or gown. I finally asked for a sheet. I was the one who took the dirty sheet off of the bed. A new sheet was folded and placed under my backside not on the whole bed. I was laying on a thin mattress cover with holes all over it. (When was it changed last?) I never did get a fresh gown. Information is scarce even if you ask questions. To be as sick as I was, and have to take care of myself is just plain wrong. The hospital needs to change their overflow protocols.

This Hospital does not feel like just a hospital, it feels like family and healing, everyone is kind and when you tell them you feel that everyone is kind they also respond like that’s why they enjoy working here.

We have had different style people helping us and many of them like to listen to us talk. I never knew a hospital could function this way and also the cafeteria is just as pleasant and the food is great.

Thank you to any staff that reads this, you have helped my family a great deal and me also.

Absolutely Horrendous Care – Avoid at All Costs

If I could give Central DuPage Hospital zero stars, I would. This place is a complete nightmare, and I wouldn’t trust them with my worst enemy’s health, let alone my own. The level of negligence, gaslighting, and outright incompetence I experienced here is beyond unacceptable.

I came to this hospital with serious cardiac symptoms and was repeatedly dismissed. Instead of addressing my real medical concerns, they brushed me off, treating me like I was overreacting or making things up. They ignored my history, refused to listen to my symptoms, and do not take women seriously. Their refusal to take my condition seriously has left me suffering for months and have experienced extreme emotional agony and physical agony.

It’s not just their dismissive attitude it’s the outright danger they put patients in. I was misdiagnosed, denied proper treatment, and gaslit about my own health. When I had a serious reaction, they still refused to help me during an allergic reaction. And let’s not even get started on how the doctors or nurses treat you on the floor because instead of compassion, you get coldness, condescension, and a lack of basic human decency.

This hospital doesn’t care about its patients. They care about covering their own tracks, avoiding accountability, and getting people out the door as quickly as possible, regardless of whether they’re actually okay. If you want real medical care, go anywhere else. Central DuPage Hospital is a disgrace.

The doctors lie you to, tell you labs are fine when in fact there are abnormal labs.

My husband and I went here last week to the ER as instructed by his primary care doctors. The nurses there by the names of Cindy and Becky were two of the rudest and inconsiderate people I have ever met. They did not show any compassion or care towards us, every question we asked was answered with an annoyed response. They couldn’t get an IV in my husband and blew out a vein, without being at all apologetic. My husbands monitor went off multiple times and took 10 minutes for the nurses to come and check on his blood pressure and heart rate which were way to high. The ER room we were in was so small and dirty. Save yourself and go to a different hospital.

I highly recommend Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital to anyone in need of emergency services. I visited the ER and, due to my condition, was admitted as an inpatient for a few days.

Throughout my stay, I found the nurses, doctors, and staff to be not only competent but also kind and empathetic toward my condition. I initially spent time in the hospital’s overflow wing, which, while somewhat outdated, was comfortable and well-staffed. I was later transferred to the hospital’s newly remodeled wing, which truly lives up to the beautiful facility advertised online.

The design of the new rooms is impressive, with a hotel-like ambiance that blends hospitality and medical care. It’s clear that the hospital has put thought into creating a more welcoming environment for patients. The word "hospital" itself comes from the Latin "hospes," meaning "one who provides lodging for a guest," and in this case, Northwestern Medicine does an excellent job of providing both lodging and compassionate care.

Overall, my experience at the hospital was as positive as one could hope for in such circumstances. The only minor issue I encountered was the loss of a personal item, a brush, which was inadvertently left behind in the ER during my transfer to the inpatient room. I hope the hospital can find a way to assist in recovering such items for patients in the future.
