As an elite athlete, my body is constantly pushed to its limits, making high-level recovery and support an absolute necessity. I originally sought out NeuroAthlete because I was struggling with nerve pain and numbness in my right hand just weeks before a competition. I was getting increasingly anxious about finding the right help in time. I had been referred to Dr. Higgins for years but hadn’t yet had the opportunity to visit his practice. Now, I wish I had gone sooner.

Dr. Higgins took the time to assess the situation thoroughly and utilized a combination of shockwave therapy, chiropractic adjustments, regenerative treatments, and strength protocols to get my body functioning at 100% again. Within just a few sessions, the numbness started to fade, and I felt stronger, more mobile, and pain-free. Continuing to work with Dr. Higgins as a primary modality for recovery, I genuinely feel like I’m recovering faster and optimizing my performance. I took my daughter who injured her shoulder. Dr. Higgins was excellent in taking time to diagnose the exact location of the injury, he adjusted her, then did additional therapy on her shoulder. He explained the injury and what would need to happen to aid in her healing. She will be restored to health in no time, now!

In November 2022, I broke my fibula, tibia, completely dislocated my ankle, and damaged a lot of ligaments/tendons and nerves. A very close friend of ours had been working with Grove over several years and highly suggested coming to NeuroAthlete post surgery to help with recovery and get back on my feet. Originally our surgeon told me it would take about six months to confidently start walking again completely unassisted with minimal pain. My surgery was on December 15, 2022 and by the end of January 2023 I was going on walks and light hiking around Colorado Springs area. The work that Pat and Grove did with not just my back and alignment, but with ankle mobility and brain mapping was a huge part of success in my recovery from surgery.

In January 2024 I completed a 50 mile ultra marathon. I am confident this could have never been done without the help of the team at NuroAthlete. Upon completion, we found my Body did not respond well to the 50 miles. I was experiencing pain in my left knee and after seeing the orthopedic surgeon again they told me I had a slight tear in my meniscus and signs of stress fracture and there was nothing they could do for me. I could not run at all due to the pain and even going on walks or hiking was uncomfortable. Having such confidence in the NuroAthlete team, I quickly got all of my imaging over to them and they informed me, I was a perfect candidate for PRP treatment in the left knee. Exactly one week after PRP treatment. I ran with zero pain in my knee. Two weeks after PRP treatment I am running 8 mile trail runs through the mountains still with no pain in my knee. I am now on track and back on my training plan for future ultramarathons and cannot be more thankful for the NeuroAthlete team. Pat and Grove not only were phenomenal in getting me recovered and healthy, but they help in my training and future planning for races to ensure I stay healthy has become an absolute essential. I would not be where I am without their help and expertise.
