DENIED TO PRAY. I was traveling to Missouri and rerouted to pray in this beautiful mosque and perhaps to meet and greet Dr. Sabeel Ahmed. That took me an hour to get there. It was hard to find an entrance when I arrived since most doors were closed, but I saw people inside and did not see any helpful information about why it was closed. I walked around the building and found an open door. When I entered the hall, one of the brothers told me it was time for the students to pray, and community prayer was not allowed (As I understood, for security reasons). I replied that I was a Musafir and needed to pray; then he told me to talk to the Security guy he pointed to. At a distance, he told me the same as the brother and added, "Rule is a rule, and I can't pray here." for the question of where I can pray then, he replied that I have to find another place to pray (not in this mosque). I left this disappointed and a little angry; may Allah forgive me for that. I think this was the first time in the US that I was denied to pray at the mosque. Allah's house is perfect, and I will not give it a low rating. Maybe someone who runs this mosque will read this comment, adjust their "Rules," and find an isolated room to pray for random guests or musafirs. May Allah forgive us for our mistakes, shortcomings, and sins.

I have been attending taraweeh prayers at MEC and appreciate the efforts made to ensure our safety with security measures in place. However, I feel compelled to share my concerns regarding the interaction between the security personnel and our community members, especially the children.

While the intention behind having security is undoubtedly to protect us, their approach often feels more alienating than reassuring. On several occasions, I've observed security personnel displaying their firearms and badges in a manner that seems designed to intimidate, particularly when addressing children who may be making noise or gathering in groups. This approach is not only unsettling but also discourages our young ones from wanting to participate in mosque activities, fearing they might be reprimanded harshly for minor disturbances.

In contrast, I've noticed security at other places of worship, such as Jewish synagogues, where personnel are polite, respectful, and engaging positively with attendees. Such an approach fosters a welcoming environment that encourages participation and respect for the sanctity of the place.

I believe that our mosque is a cornerstone of our community, where every member, young and old, should feel safe, respected, and cherished. It would be beneficial for our security team to undergo training that emphasizes respectful and gentle communication, especially with our children, ensuring that the mosque remains a welcoming space for everyone.

My hope in sharing this feedback is not to criticize but to see our beloved mosque thrive as a beacon of peace, community, and spiritual growth. I look forward to seeing positive changes that will make everyone feel more welcomed and safe during their time here.

Thank you for considering my concerns.
