I wanted a utility sink which the store said they had in stock after I called I drove 30 minutes away because they were the only place that had a utility sink in stock. I got to the store and the store did not have the utility sink in stock. I was told that the utility sink would not be able to be sent to my house. I was then told that the sink would be to the store in 4 days at the most. On the fourth day I stop by the store and no utility sink. They said that it was on the way that it would be there the next morning. I went back to the store the next day in the afternoon, no utility sink. They said that they weren’t sure what happened to the sink. They said that they would call me when it came in. I waited an entire week and no call. I stopped by the store to see what was going on with my utility sink. There was no utility sink. They said, we will call when it comes in. So, 5 days later, the utility sink arrives and I get a call that it arrived. 4 days turned into over 3 weeks with no explanation, no apologies. I take the utility sink home and attempt to get a plumber to install the sink . It took over 30 days to find a plumber to get to my place to try and install the sink. I wasn’t worried because I measured the space and it definitely would fit. What I didn’t account for was that there was a pipe that made the space an inch smaller and I didn’t realize it. The utility sink didn’t fit. I attempted to bring the utility sink back unused, with the original box. I said that I would accept an exchange or even store credit since it was past the 30 days. They rudely dismissed me and then ignored me from there, anything I said and that was the assistant manager. I have a utility sink I can’t use, Ace Hardware has lost a customer. I was willing to pay more for a better utility sink to get what I needed. Awful customer service all the way around. I just can’t believe a store like this is still in business. This might be why the giant general stores are putting smaller stores like Ace out of business. Ace’s only offering is better customer service because it isn’t their prices. BIG FAIL!

I can't say enough good things about Ace Hardware! I recently got a flat tire and happened to pull into their parking lot. Even though I wasn't a customer at the time, the owner saw me and kindly sent two of his employees to help. They went above and beyond with their customer service, treating me with kindness and generosity. It's clear they truly care about their community. I will definitely be doing business here in the future. Great people!!

So glad we have this Ace store and its wonderful owners and employees! A high tech bird feeder, with a solar powered camera, had a part break, and the feeder would no longer hang up. It was a Christmas present, didn't get used until April, and broke in May! Contacted manufacturer to purchas a replacement part, however they have none, as these are new to their marketed items. I was tolx to return it to Ace, with my receipt, which I no longer had, and it was past the return policy time. I was given a letter to take with me to Ace, authorizing the return. Reluctantly I went, but the manager said no problem, never asked for the letter, handed me a new one and took the broken one! The cashier was able to find my receipt in their system, and even printed me a new one! I have gone to this Ace for 33 years, and have never been disappointed by their service! They live up to their motto: "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man!" If you live in West Chicago, IL, you know what I mean! They are the BEST!

Ace is the place for convenience, not pricing. A little more than the big box stores. You can't beat the convenience of in and out quick. This is an older store, and a little run down, but the staff makes up for it, always willing to help. A lot easier to find help than the big stores also. They had what I was looking for and I was in and out in less than 4 minutes. I'll be coming back for sure.

I stopped by to this specific location to buy a handful of bolts and nuts. Like I do in every other store I grabbed a little clear plastic bag put my bolts and nuts inside. I grabbed a piece of paper wrote down how many I had of each item, wrote it down along with item number and prices like you are supposed to. Up until this point everything was fine. I proceeded to go up to the register to check out when I encountered a cashier by the name of Alpita. I handed her the baggie with all my items and the sheet with all the info. She then dumped out everything I had in the bag which were quite a few items, 74 to be exact. She clearly thought I was being dishonest in the amount that I wrote which is fine, I understand that it is her job to make sure things are correct. After she counted each piece she then proceeded to call another employee for a price check, I explained to her that I could go show him exactly where I got my items as I was in a hurry. She extremely rudely answered me that no, the other employee would go as it was his job to go. I have had my fair share of poor encounters over the years but never anything like this lady. I told her she didn't need to be so rude, to which she responded that if I didn't like it I could leave the store. I asked her if she owned the store to be able to kick me out, and she responded " not yet, but it soon will be my store". I asked her if the owner of the store was in and she said yes, I asked to speak to him but she refused to call him. She told me to go get him. I asked her again, of course she refused. I had to walk to another employee and ask if he could call the owner for me, he said of course. While we were waiting for the owner to come down, the gentlemen who went to price check all my items and make sure that I had given them the correct prices confirmed that everything was right with what I had wrote. The owner finally came out which I believe his name was John. I proceeded to explain to him how rude his employee is and that I felt really bad that she was essentially the face of the store and that rude. Sadly the owner didn't have anything to say other than he was very sorry and that he was sure I could understand. Mind you while I am telling him that this lady essentially kicked me out she was saying that everything she said to me was not true. I told him to check the cameras if he wanted. But sadly a sorry and I'm sure you can understand is all I got. I most definitely do not understand. As a business owner myself, who I have at the front of my location is the face and a reflection of my business. I would never let one of my employees talk to a customer in that manor. My customers could have to many different places, but they chose to go to me when they didn't need to. The least I can give them as a token of my appreciation for their business is give them the great customer service that they disserve. I used to be a regular customer of this specific Ace, but no longer. I'd rather take a longer drive elsewhere and get better customer service. Ace, PLEASE give your employees better customer service training!

This Ace Hardware has been incredible to our family for many years. There is always someone professional and friendly on hand to answer questions. Last week I had to return some air filters I had bought many months ago (I had purchased the wrong size and didn't think a size too small was a big deal until my A/C provider showed up). I didn't have a receipt and they went the extra mile and looked it up and gave me a full refund. Very unexpected and generous, thank you!
