The Dean Mr. Jones is very disrespectful. He hung up in my face and was very argumentative while discussing an incident that happened at the school. My child informed me after watching him hang up in my face that he said (he doesn't have to deal with this) . Newsflash its your job to deal with this! Since when is it okay to hang up in a concerned parent's face? Still have not heard from the Principle Mr. Nelson. On the other hand Assistant Principle Mr. Jimenez was very understanding and helpful. Making waves needs more staff like him! He was a breath of fresh air!

As a former student of this school, I personally wish that this establishment prepared me better for college. At nearly every turn, the administration was perhaps the core issue with my personal experiences as a current Alumni. When I was a student in 2017, the school was far from good. This school's administration made rules that often conflicted with students' ability to learn by dress codes and making the teaching environment for new and older teachers harder. Due to refusal to grant teachers better conditions, the percentage of teachers that end up leaving this school usually ends up being a year or two after they first join it.

Yes, this establishment is safe for students in and outside the school area yet the level of college preparedness is very low. AP classes that students can potentially take are usually erased since the administration does not try to completely work well with their teaching staff. They are not open to creating classes that can help mentally prepare students for college, which instead creates a space where they motivate students to go to college instead of giving the classes needed to skip beginning college classes. Besides this, the dress code for the school is very strict and at times the rules themselves interfere with student learning.

In particular, if you aren't wearing the correct shirts, pants, skirts, or a belt you will be sent out of the classroom and to the office for a dress code violation slip. You will get an automatic detention which then takes away from the time that students could be doing their homework or checking in with a teacher about a past or current assignment. If you are a minute late to class, do not hang your backpack on a hanger located at the back of the classroom or violate even one part of the dress code (wearing any hats, hoodies, sweatshirts, not tucking in your shirt), you will get detention from there. Just from having to take the time to get a tardy slip or a dress code slip is a waste of time that could be used for student's preparedness at the beginning of a class.

This all being taken into account, the lunches were largely disliked by the majority of students, were rarely changed, this school lacked many clubs and activities during/after school, and often barred students from staying in certain areas on school grounds that were not closed properly by the administration. The school never showed a huge amount of support for their staff or student's concerns or needs unless it was brought to their attention by the parents. This school is not for everyone and can be rough if bigger groups of students to their standards find you weird, strange, or outspokenly intelligent. I certainly would not recommend this school for anyone looking at a long term school as classes and making friends here are just not worth the time.

This is the best school for my daughter. This is her first year and much improvement shows. I'm glad she was one of the chosen. It will make it easier for my son to attend this great school when his turn come. More schools such as this one needs to be established.

We have been with making waves for over a year now. Our instructor Mr. Eric has been wonderful! Personal swim lessons do make a difference and we are happy with our experience so far.

Middle school administrators are abysmal. Yes they do have College degrees and credentials but seem to lack basic common sense with situations being brought to there attention. They are the kind of people who talk in circles and never give you straight answers or a real resolution to the actual problem.
