My son took preschool taekwondo classes at the Renaud Center with Ms. Jamie from the Lyndell Institute when he was 5 and he loved them. He is now 11 and has been taking classes at Lyndell Institute for the last year. Ms. Jamie and Ms. Sharon are wonderful teachers, and it has been really fun to watch his confidence grow over the past year. It looked like so much fun that I joined, and we’ve been doing family classes for the past six months. I love getting to share the experience with him, stay active, and learn from such talented, dedicated, and caring teachers.

update 08/16/24 - We've been here two years now, and we still love it! The new location is fantastic, and they have so many options for the whole family. My son has had a lot of fun at the Marital Arts, Self-Defense, Yoga, and Mindfulness camps the last two summers. I've added yoga once a week, and my husband and I have been doing the kickboxing and core training classes together. Jamie's yoga classes are the most relaxing hour of my week, and she is so good at providing different pose options for different levels of practice. The kickboxing and core training classes are a good workout in a supportive atmosphere and also beginner friendly.

This facility is AMAZING! Sharon and Jaime are wonderful instructors who take pride in their craft and are so very passionate. They know how to create a productive learning environment while also keeping it fun and exciting. They are so patient with my 4 year old son and give him the individual attention he needs to learn at his own pace. He is gaining self confidence, discipline and knowledge all at once and we couldn’t be happier. We can’t wait to see how he grows with Lyndell!

Our Girl Scout troop had a fantastic time! Jamie was so informative and kept the girls attention the entire class. They learned so much and while you hope they never need it, it gave the parents great peace of mind to know they had some great tools for self defense should they need it. We are already planning two more classes!

A truly exceptional Chung Do Kwan TKD studio run by two amazing women! We’ve been going to Lyndell since January of 2018, it’s a constant in my kids lives and they love it. We general attend classes 2 days a week, we enjoy the instructors, format of classes (not always the same), the students/community is very welcoming and kind. In addition to technical growth and belt ranks, the character building that happens through Sharon and Jaime’s lessons is remarkable.

I have so much respect and appreciation for Lyndell Institute, Jamie Thornton White and Sharon Thornton. I first met Jamie probably over 15 years ago. I learned many exercise techniques at first, then self-defense, kick-boxing and yoga. I recommend this studio to people on a regular basis. I love the personal kick-boxing and exercise. But I respect self defense so much that I started encouraging women I work with to run their own self-defense seminar. I've also attended self-defense workshops with young tweens and teens.

Anyone located in the radius of this awesome studio should check it out. I can truly say that I've accrued a lifetime of mental and physical benefits.

Our son has been a member of the Lyndell institute for years and we have watched him gain confidence, coordination, control, and respect. He has participated in several other sports over the years and the foundation which chung do kwan taekwondo established for not only physical but emotional growth has been impressive! Ms Jamie, Ms Sharon and all of his instructors have always taken a personal interest in his development and we appreciate them so much for it! Watching him compete in tournaments and work his way through the belts is one of the greatest feelings for us and we look forward to many more years as part of the Lyndell Family! Thank you guys!!

All three of my kids, ages 12, 9 and 4, attend Lyndell Institute. Our middle son was the first to attend at age 7 in order to help him with his impulse control, confidence and body awareness. We saw a marked improvement in his overall behavior within a short period of time. Our youngest son joined at the age of 3 and is learning to listen to his instructor, Miss Sharon, participate in class and learn positive social behaviors. Our oldest daughter joined more recently in order to complement competitive gymnastics.

Not only is Lyndell a great place for kids to train and learn but it’s a small community where everyone knows each other. You’ll often find parents/students having friendly conversation in the lobby and the kids oftentimes become friends. Miss Jaime and Miss Sharon have created a welcoming, friendly environment where kids feel comfortable to come as they are. They are gentle but firm in their expectations of students, not only are they teaching martial arts but they’re also teaching valuable life skills we can all use.

I LOVE Lyndell Institute! I have been going there since I was in college or right at the start of law school... yes, it's been that long. Now, my kids go there. They are so patient, kind, and encouraging. It can be stressful to go somewhere new, and they put you at ease. Not only is the Tae Kwon Do training amazing, but other programs like sound immersion, yoga, and exercise classes are also great. I really appreciate the work they put into their students. It's a welcoming environment, and I always recommend Lyndell to everyone.
