Prior to enrolling in Loomis Gateway Academy, my son's self-esteem was shattered and he was completely demoralized about school. He experienced recurrent stomachaches at the start of his school days due to anxiety. Upon graduating from Loomis Gateway Academy, my son is confident, and his reading and writing skills have dramatically improved. Loomis Gateway Academy has been a safe haven for my son and has enabled him to realize that dyslexia impacts many amazing people, not just him.

In one school year, our fourth grader progressed from guessing at reading all words, to truly having a technique that works for her consistently! Reading is pleasant for her now. Her writing changed from not being able to write without copying, to enjoying writing stories on her own! One year ago, Eden could not remember addition facts. This past spring, she could sit down and do 4-5 pages of multiplication on her own, without struggle! Loomis Gateway Academy has fully changed our child’s life. The teachers and the atmosphere haven given her the tools to love learning and to feel confident.

As a career educator, I have seen the challenges when a child cannot read and the frustration when teachers do not have the appropriate tools available for the Dyslexic children. Our good fortune came when Loomis Gateway provided the perfect learning experience for my grandson. It's hard to express what Loomis Gateway Academy has done not only for my son but our family! LGA truly saved my son's life and allowed him to be his true character with confidence! LGA is a school but the owners and staff treat each kid with the attention they need and deserve. It's not just their job, but their life goal to help kids succeed and believe in their own abilities. Loomis Gateway Academy literally saved my son’s life. After 5 years on an IEP at the beginning of 6th grade, his reading and math skills were stuck at a 1st grade level. His public school teachers blamed him for not working hard enough, and he feared that he would end up in juvenile hall. At LGA, Stuart and Tesa and the amazing faculty believed in him, and in his desire and ability to learn. In three years, he was reading at the 10th grade level, and ready to enroll in a STEM high school. Today, he is a Trustee scholar and athlete at an HBCU, and mapping out a career plan as an entrepreneur. At Loomis Gateway Academy, every student gets evidenced-based instruction in language arts and math plus the fervent belief in their strengths and unique gifts as a human being. After being misunderstood in public school, they get their dignity and dreams for the future restored. As Jeremy’s mom, I am forever in debt to Tesa and Stuart and the entire team for giving Jeremy a chance to rewrite his destiny and live his best life.
