I wish I could leave 0 stars. I just got discharged today and I can’t stop replaying the stuff that happened. My first day there was awful. No one told me anything. I was left to figure everything out all by myself. I didn’t even get a room until it was bed time. The beds feel like gym mats. And the temperature in there felt like 20 degrees. But they don’t give you extra blankets or turn the heat up. And in the middle of the night you cant find any staff to open your bathroom. The second day was worse. You get locked in a room for 6 hours a day with a 30 minute lunch and dinner time. And 30 minutes in the gym after lunch and before dinner. And if you get hungry in between meals then you are out of luck because they rarely give you snacks. The staff there is absolutely awful. One night some girls hand was swollen and she was having a panic attack. They watched as she had a panic attack asking for help and they just stood there. And they made her sleep with her hand in pain and by the time I left around 12 she still hadn’t gotten any help for her hand. The whole experience was horrible and traumatic. The staff there was absolutely awful with just a few exceptions.

Some of the staff here are amazing and there were some productive group therapy sessions that did help, but in general this was just an overstimulating experience with a lot of staff being incredibly disrespectful and lazy. I understand they have a difficult job, but the reason I was there was a complete misunderstanding. Although I was as respectful as I could be to the jaded staff they treated me like I was being difficult. Definitely not helpful for a depressed person. The doors stay open at night, which I understand, but it's impossible to sleep if you're someone who needs complete darkness. You would think there would be a way to dim the hall lights at night or something. The beds feel like gym mats. The shower water comes out in 4 small streams and the staff was rushing me as if I hadn't just gotten hit by a car and wasn't in an insane amount of pain. No one was waiting for the shower either. They should let us have some alone time between activities because sitting in that loud group room full of uncontrollable teenage girls was torture, especially as an autistic person. My parents drove an hour and a half, here and back, to deliver the vitamins I needed and I never got them. There's clearly a lack of communication between staff, everyone is always confused. I was expected to know all these unwritten rules. One of the girls who was leaving that day was braiding another girls hair and a staff came down to ask me questions and yelled at them and told them to stop braiding her hair. It was just a cute bonding moment and they didn't even stop no matter how many times the staff yelled. Such a stupid rule. Clearly nothing nefarious was happening and they were literally being watched anyway. They were out of the smallest size of underwear and told a girl to just go commando. They clearly lack basic respect for patients and do not see us as real, living, breathing people. I told many of them "this place sucks" with no shame.
If you need help do NOT choose Lincoln Prairie, but if you're reading this about to be involuntarily discharged, and you're terrified, it will be okay. You won't have a great time, but it will be okay. You're probably safe. (Probably.)

My 13 year old son(autistic) was there for 11 days. The staff and I communicated daily. Therapists and nurses were all easy to contact, friendly, and helpful, so no complaints there. However, when my son arrived they were supposed to call me and let me know he made it there safe. That message was never relayed. When my son was discharged, the lady at the desk was rude and refused to fax a paper for us. Also, my sons discharge medications were not included in his discharge paperwork. We had to wait an additional 30-45 minutes in the waiting room so someone could bring those to us. The nurse that brought us the medication list actually faxed the paper for us.

When our daughter was sent here we were scared and hopeless. Every person we called and spoke to was so helpful and understanding. They answered all of our questions and showed patience and kindness. We were able to talk with our daughter several times a day. Although our daughter did say that some of the girls would fight and it scared her, every single one of the staff showed kindness to her. We are thankful to LP for taking her in and keeping her safe while we worked together to help her mental health.

I'd give it a zero start if I could. While yes some of the staff were helpful...but only during the discharge process. The therapist was nice. But there was zero communication when it came to my daughter's care. Only phone call I received was asking if I was comfortable medicating my child. No follow ups. No calls telling me about any instances during her stay there. Because from what I was told there were quite a few. But I felt like I wasn't given a choice when it came to sending my daughter there. Definitely wouldn't recommend if you have any interest in actually being involved in your child's care.

This is not our first rodeo. My daughter has been in Peoria Behavioral Health 3 times before her most recent stay at Lincoln Prairie. We tried there in hopes she would get better this time. I was very wrong. While she was there, she witnessed horrible treatment of others. She told me a story of an autistic girl having a meltdown alone in the hallway which she went to help with because nobody else cared. She told me how she would bang her head on walls and self harm and nobody cared. She came home with fresh marks down her arms. She also was not given medications as instructed and I had to call 3 times before they gave them to her. They allow patients to have relationships with each other which includes kissing. Upon discharge, we were given a prescription for someone else's child with her name on it and my address. (HIPPA would love this one). My favorite part was when they called me demanding money less than 24 hours after admission. They wanted me to pay over $3000 when my bill only ended up being $307. My daughter came home feeling worse than when she went, and talking about wanting to die. Highly don't recommend.

While my daughter was kept physically safe, she was treated as a criminal when she was there for help. I would speak with supervisors to ask questions regarding my daughter's care, and told I would get a call back, and never did. (this happened several times). She was not even given her personal belongings until the day before she discharged. The psychiatrist seemed to be helpful, and did reach out to me with information I had requested. Felt very uncomfortable talking with her therapist--the therapist even made reference that I was not doing enough as a mother to help my daughter. Lincoln Prairie was a last resort, and we will never utilize their services again.

One star because I can’t leave a review with zero. If you care about your relationship with your child, don’t send them here. 4 years ago I was sent to this center because of my depression. My grandma had died and she was my whole world. I was violent, or disrespectful, she raised me better than that, yet I was treated like a criminal. The staff were rude, and I was simply scared, I had never been to a place like this. The first memory I have of the facility is being ushered into a room where I had to strip down while a nurse took photos of me on a cell phone. She then began to mock the pen drawings I had drawn on my legs, calling them ugly. She was the assumption they were tattoos. For 2 weeks I was trapped in this tiny room with too many little girls. The general atmosphere was suffocating. There was constantly blood drips on the hallway floor from girls sneaking in razors. The best I can describe it is like a prison camp. I hadn’t done anything wrong, I was sad and my mom thought I needed more help than what she was able to offer at the time. I came out of this place with new habits, like cutting. The staff pushed me too my limits, and I had always been a respectful little girl. There were constant fights, and this place has left me serious trauma. If you care about your child, this is not the right place for them. I’m begging you.
