Visiting Lincoln’s Home in Springfield was an incredible experience! The guided tour was both engaging and highly informative, providing fascinating details about Abraham Lincoln’s life before he became president. The tour guides were knowledgeable and passionate, making history come alive as they walked us through the beautifully preserved home.

One of the best parts? The tour is completely free, which makes it a fantastic stop for history lovers of all ages. Just keep in mind that while the tour doesn’t cost anything, you will need to pay for parking nearby.

If you’re ever in Springfield, this is an absolute must-visit. It’s a wonderful opportunity to step back in time and see where Lincoln lived while shaping his remarkable legacy!

Wow! What a cool experience! Really enjoyed it! We stopped on a whim (my son loves history and learning about past presidents so it was perfect). “Seeing” Abraham Lincoln right when we entered was amazing! Didn’t get to stick around for the tour, but we did get to go into some of the houses there.

My family and I discovered this national historic site quite by accident while stopping to visit the state capitol. The staff at the visitor center was nice and friendly. We did not have time to stay for any of the presentations or the guided tour which is free. However, we did walk the grounds and the site is well maintained and very informational. Would definitely recommend for anybody interested in American history or President Lincoln.

Super cool place! Tickets are free (thanks to Robert Lincoln, Abe and Mary's oldest son, requesting that the Parks Department not charge admission for touring his parents home), and on Saturday there were tours every hour. They have some original furniture, wall hangings, wallpaper, and personal belongings inside as well. I would highly recommend visiting!

Absolutely must do for history buffs. The visitor center is well done with free guided tours of the Lincoln Springfield home. There is a short movie in the theater talking about his time in Springfield up to when he left for his presidency in the White House. Our Forest Service Tour Guide was knowledgeable and did a good job explaining the inside of the house. There are furniture and other artifacts that are original, and the house has been restored to period. The Forest Service owns the 4 city blocks around the home that have either restored or are in process of restoring the homes to be true to period when the Lincolns lived there. Three other homes are open for touring. We enjoyed this visit tremendously. Highly recommended.

Takes about 2 hours. This includes Lincoln home tour for which you need to take a ticket (it’s free) from the park range in the welcome area. There are some other homes which you can visit without an entry ticket.

The Lincoln home tour was a narrated tour. They have preserved the home including the furniture from the 1860s.

There is a movie about the life of Lincoln in Springfield before he left for Washington.

Entry is free. Parking was free when went on Saturday.

Had an unexpected great time! Nice little historic village to walk around while you wait for your tour to start. The tour through the Lincoln home was short sweet and to the point. We were even lucky enough to have Abe and Mary Lincoln visiting while we were there.

The grounds and buildings are pristine. Most are original. Lincoln's home is lovely. Not pretentious. Adequate to serve his family's needs. National Park Passes are NOT honored here. Worth a look if you're in the area.
