Cute spot for skiing/snowboarding for free (with a tow rope), but unfortunately, it's currently closed as of 1230/24 as the hill is all ice with not enough snow. Conditions change with snowfall, so check it in person out first before making plans around it.

As an avid boarder, I didn't expect to be so utterly enamored with this little hill. I showed up expecting to do one or two runs to say I did, and left sad that I don't have a Lee's near my own home.

Awesome little seasonal ski hill for the kids. Old school tow rope provides easy access to top of hill. Located right in town for convenience sake.

Free local skiing! This rope tow was originally made from mining shaft parts converted to pull kids of all ages up the hill. The small hill is a delight to ski the small run with family and friends. It is not a complete beginner hill as the terrain is more mid level skiing but it is short enough it is fairly easy to ski.
The opening of the rope tow is only when there is enough snow to ski on. Keep an eye on the City of Ouray web site. This ski hill was dedicated to the City of Ouray as a free ski hill and must remain so. Downhill ski rentals are not available in town so be prepared and bring your own gear or rent it ahead of time.
Dress warm with gloves that can be ruined by the rope. Locals use duct tape around the gloves to help grip the rope. Do not wear scarves or other items which can wrap around the rope and pull long hair back and in a hat for safety.
