The area around Carter Lake is nice. Eagle campground is not. The roads around the campsites are horrible. Torn up roads from rain, big holes in the road can tear up your suspension. The county needs to fix them asap. Also, the pit toilets are too far apart. The only building with showers will cost you $2.00 each.

Great little place with lots of information about the local area. Great place to stop on a road rally through the area. Nice clean restrooms. They have brochures about the park and sell campground passes.

So glad we bought a $200 pass to use for our boat. When the Reservoirs are busy during summer boating season, they just start turning people away. There's no line or radio system to allow people in as space allows. Minimal amount of work to look like work is happening. "It's a traffic nightmare so we quit allowing people to wait." That's literally your job... don't buy a pass. It's lining bureaucratic pockets and there's absolutely no customer service.

Boat ramp management on a busy day at South Bay is exceptionally poor. 1/3 of the available ramp space shut down while people are waiting close to two hours to put a boat on the water. Rangers allowing all kinds of boat behavior that only slows launch and takeout times. Please work to develop a better ramp management plan.

The rangers have nothing better to do than write tickets for annual pass holders, but rules change week to week. I parked in the same spot 3 weekends in a row with no tickets, no issue and I park in the same spot over memorial weekend and come back to a $20 ticket. No warning. More money. Apparently they only care about money. So buyer beware!
I hope all of the power hungry rangers get their just deserve. Karma is an amazing thing!

$120 annual pass
$118 fishing license
That's not enough for Colorado, let's
Tack on $20 parking ticket.
$258.00 to be in a park on the water fishing.

What a joke.

It is so disappointing that the decontamination station at Carter Lake does not keep regular hours. They do not answer the phone. We love the lake and we want to keep it free of Zebra Muscles. We paid for a slip at Carter, but have taken our boat out to travel. We have lost so much of the boating season because the station has not been open during regular hours. We have made 3 trips to the lake and could not launch our boat. They need to honor regular hours and at least answer the phone.
