As a current student of lamar county high school I can say there's not much good here the teachers and principals only care about dress code and phone's and if you're not popular or a football player your a no body to almost every student here and get bullied 24/7. I just recently started junior high and have developed horrible anxiety and trust issues and I feel like the only people I can trust are my friends and the band. The band in the only good part about the school the band director is amazing and so nice, the band is the only reason why I haven't asked to transfer, everyone in the band is so talented and works very hard to make the band better. Bullying is so bad here it's just sad to think that if your not "pretty" enough that you'll constantly get made fun of because of it. It's sad to think that a school will say that they have a zero tolerance for bullying but yet there are so many people who get bullied for the way they look or act, there are people here who are yelling slurs and sexually assaulting/harassing the girls and teachers don't do anything about it but God forbid you have your shoulders showing, it's practically a crime to wear a tank top or a nose ring and telling girls to cover themselves because we're distracting the boys is going to make us think that we're the problem when something happens, and if you ask every boy in this school if they're distracted by someone's knees and shoulders they're going to say no. So I say if you have a choice do NOT go to school here or do I can't tell you what to do.

Went to this school from 4th grade to 11th, transferred to florida for 12th in 2022.
Most staff are alright, aside from specific ones.
Bullying is a terrible issue here, especially if you're not a football player. There's only so much that can be done since it spreads out of the school into the streets, internet, and homes.

The band is amazing, or was amazing for most of the years. I wish it would have kept its spark, but we all can dream.
As far as courses go, it's nothing too crazy, but keep to your schoolwork and find yourself a group of pals and you'll make it just fine.
However, if you're actively moving here to make yourself a home? Please find anywhere else unless you have family here.
This town is miserable as well as most everyone in it.
