I have been a Kumon mom for over 14 years.

Ever since day one, Ms. Lin has told me that Kumon is an individually planned, self-study program. Students learn through working on a set of worksheets, and she plans the lessons for children according to their best paces. She also provides instructions when a new concept is introduced, or when the kids encounter difficulties. She customizes the worksheet learning plan based on students’ unique needs and learning pace to ensure they are continually growing. I urge my children to be consistent and do their Kumon every day so they can continue moving forward and not fall back.

Kumon’s self-study philosophy works very well for my three kids. It has helped them with time management skills and self discipline. My oldest daughter is now attending an ivy league college, my oldest son is at a magnet high school, and my youngest son in elementary school is showing good academic growth. There are different choices and options for every child’s academic journey, but we feel Kumon has been a great addition that has made their academics more complete.

Over the years, whenever we go out of town, I will tell Ms. Lin before our departure. She would then prepare the right amount of workload for my kids, so that they can still do the Kumon homework while enjoying vacation.

Whenever I have a question, not just about Kumon, but about general parenting or school, I ask Ms. Lin for her input and recommendations and appreciate her wisdom and experience.

Kumon study may not be easy, but if you are persistent you will see the result.

My son is 9 years old now and he has only been doing Kumon over a year. Though it was just a short period of time, he has improved tremendously. His MAP scores has moved from 36 percentile up to 80 percentile. Because of practicing doing Kumon, my son has increased his attention span. He is able to focus and perform tasks better now. He has also gained his confidence because of how the Kumon curriculum is designed. Kumon exercises also help motivate my son’s learning interests. He even qualifies to attend one of the top TAG school in Dallas ISD for next school year. We are so blessed to have the great instructor like Mrs. Lin to help my son steadily improve his basic math skills which are the foundation of all math. With her years of experience, she designed the perfect lesson plans to fit my son’s leaning. She is one of the best and the most dedicated teacher that I have ever met. I am a teacher with 22 years of teaching experience. Trust me, I have seen lots of teachers. As an educator and a mother, Mrs. Lin is the best instructor anyone could ever ask for. I definitely will recommend Mrs. Lins’ Kumon center to anyone.

I have two children, age 16 and 11. They have been benefiting from Kumon since pre-K. Mrs. Lin’s sharp analysis quickly diagnosed my children’s strengths and weaknesses, and her guidance led to their interest, continued effort, and success. From my experience, She patiently explained her thought process to the parents after each session. She is quick to praise the children if they did a good job, but bold and firm about their deficiencies and what can be done to improve them. It helps my children tremendously not only academically, but also their organization skills and study habits.

Repetition of the Kumon assignments help my children nail down the basic math and reading skills like second nature, and leave them more time to think through and solve the more complex problems during homework and exams. You maybe able to buy Kumon excercises from the local book stores but the greatest value of Kumon centers is the insight from their lifelong educators. I am very thankful for the experience and professionalism of the teachers at this Kumon center. I highly recommend the centers that are operated by Mrs. Lin. She truly makes a big difference in my children’s (and my) lives.

I felt disgusted by how desperate they are for money. We had been there for a year, and it helped my 5-year-old at some point. I told Bennedett we would be back after summer because we would be out of the country for the whole summer. She told me they would still charge us even if we didn't go. I didn't argue, but I wasn't happy and felt it wasn't right. When we come back , we left . After they took my $1000 for nothing.

But now I find out it's not true! People go there, give her a check for the month, and if they don't go, they don't pay! Now I have nowhere to claim my hard-earned money.

Be careful! Don't let her auto-charge your checking account. Give them a check and pay as you go.

I am very happy with my son's improvement in school and am very glad that I decided to commit to the process. This is not an quick fix and honestly, it's not for lazy parents. If you want your child to master the fundamental of math and reading this is for you.
