Thanks to the national park service and maintenance, Skagway this gold rush town has still been active and thrive today. Very nice rangers, she gave my daughter extra gift for her cursive writing on the junior ranger program booklet

Great place to learn about Skagway's history. Make sure you also visit the Mascot Saloon down the street after you stop in at the main visitor center.

We had an early start at 8.30am, the early morning horse ride through the National Park forest was very quiet and peaceful with just the sounds of the horse’s hooves but it was very cold for the first 1/2 hr. Recommend doing later in the morning but if you have no option take a warm jacket. Interesting scenery, informative commentary from our guide. If your lucky you could see bald eagles and maya black or brown bear.

Not so much for history - not much of. Dyea is left - but for natural beauty and. ecological curiosity it was good fun. However, our late September visit was too late for much wildlife viewing. For that come here earlier in the season
