I recently rode my mare in Josh's three day clinic in Bismarck, ND. Josh is an excellent teacher in so many ways...he takes the time to truly listen to each riders goals and concerns, breaks down the exercises clearly, and is so encouraging in his feedback. The clinic had many levels of riders and horses, and all of them progressed throughout the weekend. Josh helped me to raise my expectations for myself and my mare, and also helped me worked through a sticky spot where I'd lost confidence in my horsemanship. I loved riding with Josh and would definitely recommend his clinics to anyone who wants to grow in their horsemanship journey!

I grew up riding and training horses and graduated from John and Josh Lyon's Certification Program back in 2000. I continued training and doing clinics for several years until I had my 3 children. After many life changes and moves I finally started training again but mostly the colts from our own breeding program. I definitely have not been training full time in about 14 years. This clinic was exactly what I needed to sharpen my skills and become more confident in myself again. Josh helped me to leave some old habits behind and shared a lot of new techniques and exercises to help me get to the next level. It was a lot of information but actually much simpler in terms of how to keep my horse more calm and relaxed through all the maneuvers
and transitions; which allows my horse to travel more naturally. I am nitt picking way less but my horse is more responsive. Josh still blows me away with his ability to explain what he is teaching. He may share one concept in many different ways to ensure each student understands. Group discussions are comfortable and everyone gets involved. Josh has a way with people and horses that far exceeds any other clinician out there. He is constantly evolving and improving his methods but he was awesome when I went through his cert program and today he is even better! I am so greatful and blessed for this week's experience and can't wait to put everything I learned into practice at home. My daughter and I will definitely be back and we hope to bring our friends. If you come to a Lyon's Legacy clinic you will wonder why you hadn't done it already! Until next time- Sheila King

I attended the Lyons Legacy clinic last weekend at Hickory Hallow Stables. It was a great clinic overall; it’s a beautiful area and the owners of the barn are very nice people. Josh thoroughly explained and demonstrated exercises that I will now be using in my own training program. Highly recommend attending for all levels of riders.

Had an amazing time at the three day clinic with Josh Lyons this past weekend. Josh does a great job and I learned so much in just three days. I would recommend this to anyone considering doing a clinic with him. I know I will certainly be doing another clinic with him.

The exercises Josh introduced to us in this clinic allowed me to learn how much pressure my horse could take on. And, how she handled the pressure. He was amazing at understanding the level of rider I want to be with my horse. I’m not a Reiner, I’m a Ex Dressage Rider, now a National Park Trail Rider! I have many years in the saddle, Josh was able to teach me and my horse how to be a “TEAM” on the trail through his exercise drills. Confidence, Commitment and Clear Communication is what I rode away with and so did my Warmblood!! Big THANKS buddy!! V

Absolutely loved my 5 days with Josh and Johnny. My horse and I were challenged with a perfect blend of difficulty and compassion for learning new things (because we all know new can also be awkward and uncomfortable as well as exciting)! Genuinely kind people. Thank you is too small of an expression!
