I've been taking lessons at JEC for over a year now and have been very happy with it so far! My experiences with the staff have been great and actually inspired me to write this review - all the trainers I've worked with have been very supportive of my progress and are interested in helping me improve, the barn owner and scheduling team are very communicative and easy to work with, and the barn manager and staff care a lot about the horses and their quality of life. From what I've seen, lesson horses are turned out regularly and it's not uncommon for them to get sold to students who love them. They have also been working on a lot of upgrades and improvements to the facilities (for example, heated indoor arena with more convenient viewing and tack up areas) and regularly host workshops and horse shows.

JEC recently bought the old Stanley Luke barn. There have already been improvements made. They are accepting new students and boarders. So grateful that it remained a horse facility, thank you Johnson Family!

My daughter took 4 classes there, the facilities are fine, the animals seem to be loved and well cared for. The instructor was fine as well, but all of the sudden she cancelled our lessons stating that the indoor practice area was getting busy and she needed to figure out a different time, after reaching out to her she told me that she wouldn’t do it anymore (through text) and gave me the number of another instructor, the other instructor told me that she could only do it on Wednesday’s at 5:00 (we live in Hyde Park) not a good time for us, then I explained that my daughter was very sad that she had not been able to ride for several weeks now and that we really wanted to make it work, she told me that she was going to reach out to the other instructors, never heard from them again. We were left hanging and now I am looking for another option. I understand that things come up, but be more reasonable and professional and give advanced notice. My little girl is sad because she hasn’t not been able to ride for a while now and this experience left her wondering if she didn’t try hard enough and that’s why the instructor didn’t want to teach her anymore she keeps asking what she did wrong and why they don’t want us there anymore, as a mother this is heart breaking.

Been at Stanley Luke for almost 20 years now! whether you've been around forever or just started, you feel like family. Couldn't imagine having my horse anywhere else, always well cared for, fed, turned out & loved. The horses are ALWAYS the number one priority at SLF.

What a great school! The fun you will have the friends you will make! Chrissy will guide your child to be the rider they didn't know they had in them. Firm direction for the serious rider. NOTHING brings out the leader in your child like directing a 2000lb animal. Life lessons.......priceless!
