So normally I would say good things about this head start because for the most part the first time around it was an ok experience for my son, however we didnā€™t have a good experience the second time with my second son. there were things that happened with my first son that nobody took accountability for just like theyā€™re not taking accountability for things now.

So my oldest son is autistic and we didnā€™t know at the time and he is the sweetest boy still is. He was bullied the entire time he was there and even got a concussion from one of the students. Staff didnā€™t even inform me of it until I picked him up. He threw up and passed out the minute I took him home to where I had to rush him to the hospital to find out he had a concussion from that student who pushed him into the concrete. The reason why I said we had an overall good experiment was because of the teachers. We absolutely loved his teachers they were great. And ever since they left things went south.

Fast forward to my youngest son he is diagnosed with adhd/add he is very impulsive and honest so if someone bothers him he will let them know or if someone steals a toy he will get it back himself probably not in the nicest way possible but thatā€™s just how it was before we were able to get him on medication. Iā€™m not saying his behaviors were ok because theyā€™re not and we have worked very hard on his behaviors. saying all that there was a boy in his class that would pick on him and irritate him steal his toys that he was playing with and just plane aggravate and poke him to the point where my son stood up for himself, in doing that he gave the boy stitches and again Iā€™m not saying thatā€™s ok however when someone reaches that point you have to think how bad was it really?ā€¦. the mother threatened me in the parking lot and the staff did nothing about any of it in fact blamed my son for everything didnā€™t even see that the other student was pushing my son to that limit so I pulled him out because I donā€™t want my son going to a school thatā€™s going to punish my child for everything when he wasnā€™t the only one at fault. I know he was at fault Iā€™m not making excuses just because heā€™s my child I know what that little boy is capable of.

Fast forward to recently we were a part of JPP for years because the boys went there and I was struggling pretty hard with homelessness etc my favorite coach left and Iā€™m so sad because she really kept me accountable and I love that about her. I am neurodivergent/auadhd I tend to bail a lot itā€™s something I canā€™t help. Well my new coach after being part of jpp for maybe 2/3yrs didnā€™t care to understand me as a person or that this is a thing I get very overwhelmed with life and shut down I have 0 energy and severe anxiety around people in general. I struggled to go to group sessions so life got a little complicated so I stopped seeing her for a bit but reached out and let her know I was ready life calmed down and I could add another thing to my plate. No response. I kept reaching out and no response. Okay well hint taken. I got an email talking about school supply give away and I was desperate. Since I havenā€™t been with JPP for about a year and nobody told me I wasnā€™t a part of it because I got the newsletters frequently nobody told me I was dropped or anything so I emailed back to see if we could come. No response. So we show up I speak to Jessica and she comes out with a full hard on attitude and stern face saying youā€™re not part of it after 3 months you get dropped. Well I told her I reached out to my coach about it all and never heard back and she said I should stop in next time. Like who has the time for that and when nobody will even be there by the time I can? Not a bright response. Gave her my information and she said they would reach out to me. Did anyone reach out? Nopeā€¦. They just removed me from the newsletter. Didnā€™t even have the balls to call me and explain what happened and take accountability for their mistake.

I would not recommend this school to anyone ever.

My son reverted and lost most of the learning he had because they did not work with him on letters numbers or anything. He came home injured just about every day from kids actually biting him throwing stuff at him scratching him he still has scars on the back of neck from one little girl scratching him. You have to be in there and Advocate non-stop for your child and make sure that you talk to the teachers about what you want otherwise they just let them learn through play and don't do anything with them at all.

My son goes here full time and today marks the 6th injury report that I've gotten. My son has been hurt by the SAME child 6 times now that I know of. They never call unless there's an apparent injury. They didn't call me today until 4 hours later since a bump showed up on his head because this same child pushed a bookshelf over onto my son's head.

I know my son is not the only one that this child is bullying. A dad came in upset talking to this same child and told him it's not okay for him to hit his daughter.

When I spoke to my case manager and told her my concerns and told her I know my son is not the only one I know this child is picking on because of the dad I saw confront the child, my case manager said and he's not the only one. So THERES MORE children this SAME child is bullying.

And the school refuses to do anything. This is BULLYING. My son does not deserve this. This is why when kids get older and get bullied, self harm is an issue and schools refuse to do anything.

From the administration to the teachers this is by far the most wonderful, and caring school I have ever been to. They go above and beyond each and everyday for my daughters, as well as myself. Anne is one of the best in the business, and she is the most caring person Iā€™ve ever met and worked with. She truly cares about all the children at Head Start, and you can see that everyday. I canā€™t praise Ms. Melissa & Ms. Sammi enough for truly loving what they do, and teaching my children everyday. They both are the top of the line teachers, and they have so much love for the kids itā€™s amazing. I love that my children beg me to go to school everyday, and you donā€™t hear that often. I canā€™t give this school enough credit, they are all so amazing here, I HIGHLY recommend sending your children here is you can, you know they are learning, and being loved each day. Thank you to all of you for truly making this school a better and brighter place, you all deserve the most praise!

She is there from 7:45 to 2:15 and no one changed her or took her to sitom tne potty! When asked they said she never told them she had to go! She had a possible case of covid to ne safe we quarantined her for the 5 fays per state guidelines and she had no fever for more thhan double the required 25 hrs but after dropping her off i wad called to come get her to find het sitting alone in a corner cruing watching all the other kids play. They could have taken her out of the classroom or something. Huge regrets sending her here

Came here to talk about my son becoming a future student and what not. The front office staff was amazing and very nice. But Iā€™m giving three stars because I came during school hours and they just let me walk right in. After Ringing the door bell no one asked my name or why I was there or anything. Makes me worried for the safety of children and what their procedures are. Looks can be deceiving and I as a parent take their safety very serious.

I am extremely disappointed with the school. A friend of mine had issues with her daughter being bullied and inappropriately touched by a classmate during the two years she attended Jeffco Head Start. The administration did nothing to control, discipline or otherwise help the issues. Instead they said they could move her daughter to a different class because moving the other child would be singling him out. She was ultimately pulled from the school.
My step daughter is finishing up her first and only year, thank God. Again, issues have arisen, and not handled. A classmate has bullied my step daughter repeatedly. She's come home with red marks because he slapped her, among other things. Recently he pushed her into a wall & she no longer wants to attend school. Theres always an excuse for this other child, but there should be no excuse for bullying.
Additionally, my step daughter hit her head hard enough to leave a baseball size lump, and they never called home. They sent a peice of paper home with an explanation of what happened & the nurse misspelled simple words, and it wasn't even an accurate account of what happened.
I will forever steer everyone I can away from this place.

The admin staff, teachers and fss are incredibly friendly, considerate and helpful. They make my child's enrollment a breeze and are incredibly insightful. Fresh meals, safe and secure facility, teaching my children who both have speech delays to talk and learn to use the potty. What an incredible gov funded school. Please ignore xtina's comments below which is ignorant and unreliable. Yes, they do home visit to make sure that each family are well supported and they provide services and aid if you need one. They will help and direct you to job searches, food or whatever a family are in need of. Of course they will report the school if your child is neglected/abused because they are there to protect children from any bad actions a parent or family member might inflict. But they are not instigators. And yes, they do mental screening if your child might have problems with depression, anxiety tt they might faced and parents are not aware off. The school focuses on enriching children and families, that's why they are extremely thorough but not prejudice in their system.
