The mansion is a fascinating place to visit. It's huge and the basic tour takes you primarily on 2 floors of the building. During cooler months, they offer a full home tour of the 50+ rooms, which takes over 4 hours. Seeing how the family lived and learning about the history of the area was a lot of fun. The staff answered all questions and provided a lot of insights.

Highly recommend the expanded tour! I do not remember the name of my tour guide, but she was so informative. She told us bits and pieces of info that were interesting. Overall the house is gorgeous, behind words and hearing the history was an experiment. They also offer various other tours throughout the season, which I will have to come back and see.

Have done the general and the full house tour with Tricia Kelly and both experiences were wonderful. The history of the family, the business, and the mansion itself are delightful and I was particularly delighted by the connection to the Parliament of World's Religions event that created a bridge to a lot of Eastern philosophy and Paul Carus' work with D.T. Suzuki.

The house itself is a massive 7 stories and the general tour covers several of the main rooms while outlining the major members of the family and their history. The full tour goes throughout the entire house from the attic cupola to the basement floors and the more intricate anecdotes of the house itself. Particular favorites were the 100+ year old Cereus plant and the stunning detail in everything from the tables to the wallpaper and profusion of artifacts collected by the family.

An excellent destination spot and another shout out to the great presentation of Tricia and the work done by the staff in maintaining the building and archiving of all the history therein.

Amazing mansion of 57 rooms, the family mansion of Paul Carus, the publisher who introduced Buddhism to the West! His grandson Blouke Carus is 96 years old and still going strong, he came with us for the tour, and the guide Trisha (?) is amazing with her knowledge and personal memories of the place!
