We moved to the area over four years ago and chose this school for our four children, even though it was a longer drive than the schools in nearby Craig. We have not regretted the decision and have loved the incredible staff and educational program that HVE provides. Every teacher that has taught my children has been outstanding, including Mrs. Murchison--who has taught at least one my children for each of the past three years. I noticed there was a negative review highlighting this teacher and wanted to specially comment on her as I so strongly disagree with the reviewer's assessment. Mrs. Murchison is an excellent teacher--she has taught both of my sons (she teaches a 4/5 combo class, which is very difficult) and did--and is still doing--a great job! She is tough, and she sets the bar high, but she gives them the tools to reach it! She has never belittled my sons nor have they mentioned such a thing happening in class, and I personally have seen her brought to tears worrying over students with difficulties at home or who didn't win an election they were hoping to. She loves her students and puts in the extra time to help them whenever needed. She is not a bully, and she does not put up with any of her students bullying others--both my sons can attest to that! My son that is currently in her class absolutely loves her and she has done wonders helping him to focus, challenging him in math, and bringing out the hidden leader inside of him. My daughter had her as a volleyball coach and she loved her as well. Hayden Valley Elementary is a wonderful school, with a phenomenal principal (the other reviewer go that right), but we also have a wonderful staff which includes Mrs. Murchison, who is one of those exceptional teachers that you would be lucky to have your child be taught by!
