I get be ownership at the club changed this, but wtf they think $140 is priced right for a round of golf with no “locals” rate is beyond me. Will not be returning to that! Play Craft Farms or Peninsula for that kind of money and way better course. Greens will be lost by summer with all the POA sprouting.

I cannot give this course 3 stars or 5 stars.
The 4 star aspect and why it’s not 3 star:
For any level of golfer this course is not too challenging except for some narrow par 4’s on the back 9. Suggest hitting fairway woods or other. It is very friendly with the exception of some highly questionable bunker placements and trees that could be removed.
All the fairways were in great condition , all tee boxes except for a couple on the back 9 were good, the greens were in top shape and we only saw a couple with a small patch of trouble. Restrooms on the course , water and good signage make for an enjoyable round. A marshal on course to monitor pace of play was nice and a starter helps with starting the day off with no backups. Check in was a breeze and staff was very friendly.

Why it’s not 5 star:
The price is just too much. This course is not remotely close to the shape of Craft Farms for a local comparison. Not to be unfair in that regard , GSGC is a local municipal with conditions that compare to what you would find within your own state. No GPS on old carts , some unmanicured areas and last but not least-
the clubhouse setup.
The facility has got to be 50 plus years old and it’s just unwelcoming. The restrooms are old and the pro shop is so low level with stock and setup. There is a veranda but it’s on the second level with the restaurant and bar. Which is the biggest issue overall.
Why not remodel the entire facility? That’s what I would do. I’d gut the first level, bring the bar and grille downstairs , add viewing options via a deck or patio and redo the restrooms and locker rooms.
The entire lower level should be full of windows for viewing options and openness that will welcome not just the locals but the tourists.
Plain and simple , the clubhouse is hard to get around , it’s dull and dreary, unwelcoming and antiquated.
After our round we just didn’t feel welcomed or like we wanted to stay and enjoy our post round lunch and beverage.
We considered just going back to Orange Beach. But because we were on vacation and loyal to our post round tradition we stayed.
My opinion is this course is not worth what the fee is but it is an option if Craft Farms or Kiva aren’t available.

This used to be a nice golf course for the money. Just played here 4/12/25 and was in bad shape for $145. Weeds all over the greens and tee boxes were just sand on many of them. It has a nice layout but it has detoriated in quality.

Very nice staff behind the pro shop counter and on the course. Course has a nice layout and could be amazing if they manicured the course. From my photos this was only a couple holes but the entire course is plagued with crab grass and weeds. Many approaches had tall weeds and bare spots. Tee boxes were in very rough shape. Overall they need to adjust their rates for the condition of this course. My father, son and I played Peninsula Golf course two days prior and paid less in green fees for a much more premium experience.

Weed control is outstanding. Golf pro has hired enough staff to adequately man the pro shop and maintenance crew. The fairways are in tremendous condition as are the greens

$60 course they are charging $130 for. majority of the greens are nice but rest of the course is brutal. if you have a bad winter you lower rates not keep it the same. only play here if you’ve got money flying out of your rear end
