A growing home has been so Great for housing assistance when my son and I needed it and the parents to teachers program. While I was taking a survey a few weeks ago it asked how my disabled 3 year old son identified as. He is 3 with level 3 autism and idd the last thing he needs as a biological male and a disability is having gender ideologies shoved down his throat. This sexualizes children and is widely inappropriate. He is a boy as God made him we are Christian so I was highly offended as he cannot even regulate his nervous system let alone choose whether he is trapped in the wrong body. Please be considerate of everyone! Some families have different religious views. Asking what my 3 YEAR OLD identifies as is not age appropriate for toddlers keep these adult ideas from children.

The staff are friendly enough but I feel like they are kind of bias on who gets what. Like I live alone and since it's just me I'm only allowed the half gallon of milk and a small thing of meat while a family of 4 or 5 can have a whole gallon of milk and the big package of chicken. Like how is that even fair at all. Everyone should be able to get the same amount equally. I mean don't get me wrong I'm thankful for the free food but still. Plus I shouldn't have to lie to get more food which I'm sure a lot of these people who go there do.

6/20/24:
I'm heart-broke to report (new) mandates: photo ID, proof of address, and retention of a card they issue you.

I'll never forgot my first time coming here, it was my first time ever seeking out food assistance. The organization founder recognized my Bronx area-code, and made me feel right at home. I had no ID. She looked at the human on the other side of the window and told me (unlike so many other food banks I knew of) they didn't require credentials.

So many people down on their luck don't have credentials. It was so refreshing to know their was a place so mission-focused they didnt bog the hungry down with paperwork.

The crowd today is much thinner than usual, it's not hard to imagine why.

I feel so sad for these changes and the hungry people who, if here, likely would have meant I'd have been turned away.

I didn't agree with the concept of a waiting contest to determine eligibility but this is much worse.

I feel like crying and throwing up I'm so sad over a place that I was considered one of Westminster's finest institutions.

I hope the kind lady who helped me years ago hears me. Im struggling right now, but if I could Id give up my turn to someone without ID.

If you are reading this, please reconsider. Next time I'll bring my freshly-minted state ID, but so long as you require it I can't bring the level of admiration and pride I once held for your mission-focused approach.

They are an incredibly valuable resource. They help so many with valuable and nutritious foods.

I wish they could return to previous, less formalized distribution method. It's cold outside and not everyone has a vehicle they can idle to stay warm.

Awesome place and great people. They helped pay my rent and gave us a great first month in our new apt we had money to get the basic necessities like dishes, shampoo, towels and toilet paper.
Thank you too Da, for your help and effort.
It's much appreciated!

this place is a wealth of information in the wealth of goodness. Especially for those in need have excellent resources and as a food bank their services and food is a breath of fresh air my family is well as my referrals to different people about this place I've been pleasantly surprised and their needs were met it'll remind you of Metro caring, on a smaller scale but just as efficient. Thank you for helping everyone that comes through your doors as much as you can.

They are so nice there. They let u shop so u get what u will use and need . My husband did get food poisoning from the pre-made meals that are frozen . Not their fault bc the store could have mixed up meal and it could have become unfrozen at the store . These people are so nice and u get fresh produce , milk , eggs and canned food that u choose . This has been a life saver since I have been out of work..I do not know if u have been to a pantry but some act ugly but not here . They are so sweet and make sure u get a good amount if they have it ..I love them 💗
