I thoroughly enjoyed the Gokhale Method Foundation course with Kerri Robinson. She is an excellent teacher, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and is able to explain the techniques in various ways as to make them accessible to everyone.
I have been working to improve my posture through reading the Gokhale Method book but coming to an in person class has been so much more helpful. Kerri is warm and friendly and her gentle hands ond patient approach has really helped me to improve my understanding and to begin implementing the Gokhale Method.

I recently took an intensive weekend Gokhale course in Oakville, ON, Canada. Although there was a wealth of information to teach and put into practice, Lang expertly disseminated this material into manageable and digestible nuggets. I appreciated the many connections Lang made to our every day living. The follow up emails are extremely helpful in keeping us on track post workshop. In addition, directing us to specific exercises which appear in the appendix of Esther's book is also a great support. Thank you to Karen for hosting us and for lending an keen eye. I feel I made a worthwhile investment and am looking forward to using more of the resources and teaching that is made available on Esther's website.

I recently took the Foundations course and received one-on-one instruction from Amy Smith in SC; she is a wonderful teacher of the Gokhale Method and I immensely enjoyed working with her. Amy is very effective at instructing students on how to implement the techniques for proper sitting, walking, standing, lying and bending in an easy-to-follow manner. She is supportive, enthusiastic and offers encouragement throughout the process. I am confident that mastering this method through practice will be life-changing and I am so thankful to have had Amy as my teacher, coach and cheerleader!

I am a 50 year old female who alternates between sewing, drafting, lifting up to 50 lb bags of chicken feed, digging up blackberries, and making everything from scratch. I am in "good" physical condition, eat a whole food diet, am not on any prescriptions, have a background in yoga. Despite all this, I have suffered chronic sciatica for 25 years, am starting to suffer sharp pains in my left hip joint, as well as back spasms that leave me immobilized for days. I have tried everything for the sciatica - several different chiropractic disciplines, yoga, massage, acupuncture, with only temporary relief. I drove from Portland to Palo Alto to take the workshop with Esther, and arrived in such pain that I couldn't sit still for the first day (sitting for any period is the biggest trigger for my sciatica). By the end of the week with Esther, I was able to sit with no pain, and even drove for FIVE HOURS STRAIGHT on the way home with NO PAIN. I was really pleased with how kind, patient, and thorough Esther was with all the students in our small class (and everyone had different issues), as well as how the techniques taught how to use my body in ALL aspects of life - sleeping, walking, doing dishes, bending, lifting, and of course, sitting. This is not easy - I will have to totally retrain my severe swayback, head forward spine and lazy core. But it is totally worth it! To be able to go on a road trip without stopping at every rest stop, to sit through a movie without squirming... Thank you, Esther! I expect that my other issues will fade with time, but the immediate benefits alone are worth every penny, the travel expense, and the experience. I recommend for all ages and bodies.

I'm very thankful to my osteopath, Tracy who suggested to me to take the Gokhale Method course.
This course gives something unique that never before was available; it is derived from ancient life of living.
The method is a simple way to hold our body nice and tall. It maintains easily good posture and strengthens the body by using some simple skills.
Good posture is a positive influence on the internal organs and graceful figure.
I'm happy that I had opportunities to take these 2 days course in the Ottawa area.
It would have been better if I had taken this course in my younger age. Any age for this Gokhale method is good, but it requires more effort to lose old, bad habits.
Those skills are my defense against my weak posture.

Five years ago, when I was getting to know my girlfriend, she completed a brief course with Esther. With just a few months of following the Gokhale Method, her long-term hip pain had vanished. I do miss rubbing pain relieving gel on her hip, but she is a much happier and more flexible person since adopting Esther’s method.

In the last few months, I developed intermittent sciatic pain and decided to give the method a try. As a registered nurse, I am impressed with Esther‘s deep understanding of physiology born of decades of observation and research. As a student, I’m in awe of her teaching and mentoring skills.

It’s important to note that the system is not just a bunch of limbering up exercises to do first thing in the morning. It’s about gaining a new perspective on how you use your body in every-day tasks in harmony with its design. Over time you make certain small adjustments to the way you sit, stand, walk, and reach. Small changes, big results.

I highly recommend an individual analysis before beginning the course so that your teacher can get a clearer understanding of your strengths, limitations, and goals. The courses themselves are composed of a tidy number of participants, perhaps six or eight, just right for a dinner party. Over six weekly sessions everyone gets meticulous personal attention from Esther as well as encouragement from fellow learners. It helped me to learn with a small group because I could observe others and learn from Esther‘s guidance to them how to modify my own habits.

Even though I completed my course only recently, I’ve noticed my sleep quality has improved markedly. Yes, she teaches you about sleeping. What is more basic than that! And my intermittent back trouble has not recurred so far.

Got a friend with a “bad back?” Point them to the Gokhale Method, You just might change their life.

I just took Esther Gokhale's 6 day foundations course. I can highly recommend the class. The 1.5 hours snippets each day over 6 days, made it much easier to absorb the content and work on it for the next day's course. Her hands on corrections were invaluable in providing a physical application of the concepts. She is patient, knowledgeable and approachable. Since I just finished the course, I am in the process of applying the techniques to my life and so far am optimistic they will greatly improve my back pain. TBD..... Thanks Esther!

The Gokhale Method aims to support positive posture change, by learning from and following posture from earlier times and more traditional cultures. I have found it to be most valuable, and the training is supportive to effectively correct habits which are not healthy. This method should be your first step in moving towards less pain and improved flexibility and strength, regardless of what your activities are. My in-person instructor was Kerri Robinson in Washington state, who is empathetic, organized, and clear in her teaching, and was willing to give additional instructions after class to ensure I didn't miss anything. I am grateful.
