This is an excellant outdoors theatre in the park with semi- professional actors, musicians, and scene builders. Lighting and sound technicians help to make this a wonderful experience for our community. You can expect to see famous plays by Shakespeare and many other well known authors. This is a must summer time thing to do.

I tried to find a small meal in downtown Moline. I found a brewery, a pizza joint and an ale house. The ale house closed early because the bartender didn't like waiting for no one to show up. I visited the Rebel & Lion Brewing Company, connected to the Bad Boy'z Pizza Joint. The menu listed pizza, calzones and hot wings, not very round fare. So I hoped for concessions at the outdoor theater. I hoped in vain.

The Shakespeare play seemed more like a lecture, trying to find traces of a man called Shakespeare in the language he used. I am sure I will enjoy it more when I read it in print. A narrator and five actors performed the work. However, many lines couldn't be heard over the booming of fireworks blasting off before sundown. I was also distracted by the scent of maybe a hundred different barbecues around the neighborhoods.

I know that they will bring to the stage a play by Euripides next. Maybe I'll find myself in the Quad Cities, looking for an educational and entertaining experience. I enjoyed sitting in Lincoln Park, watching the Sun fade on the stout trunks of the old oaks. Any reason to enjoy that kind of moment makes for a good reason. I know if I found the right place on this hillock, I would be able to see down to the Mississippi River. It is my intent to follow this River Road North for at least an hour.

Genesius Guild presents Greek drama done in mask, a re-written Greek comedy, the works of Shakespeare, an opera sung in English with a full orchestra, a ballet, and musical presentations. Performances are presented free of charge so anyone who wishes to attend may do so.
Genesius Guild is the only arts organization of its kind in the United States. Come to Lincoln Park in Rock Island, IL this summer and see for yourself!

Romeo was great. Several other actors were very good. A couple were hard to hear...especially when loud vehicles were near the park.
