Firedance is a pretty unique place. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea; but it is absolutely an essential ministry to the valley for working families who want their kids in a safe faith-based setting. It’s small, and once you’re there, you’re a part of the family setting. I’ve only had good experiences with Mrs Katherine. She was very patient and understanding with me while I was figuring out how the homeschool allotment worked and didn't pay them for a bit?. She cares about the kids.

Not every teacher is equal in their training, etc. But mind you, it is a tutoring center with school-like aspects. It is NOT a school, and that is communicated throughout the program. If you’re a part of firedance, you’re the homeschool teacher to your child, just as much as any of them.

Because of their size, they cannot accommodate all needs. But they were helpful with one of my kids who needed headphones during assembly.

I would certainly send my kids back there. We aren’t going currently, but that’s due to other life factors and nothing to do with the quality of Firedance.

I pretty much spent my entire middle school and high school years there. The experiences I got are ones that I could never forget or replace. Mrs Catherine is strict at times but she cared for us like no other teacher ever has, we weren’t students, we were more like her kids.

I’m happy that this is where I got to go, I’m forever grateful to Mrs Catherine and all the other teachers that I had an opportunity to learn under.

I went to this school for freshman and sophomore year. They repeat Algebra one for every year of High School, so the “tutoring” they offer isn’t the best if you’re trying to excel in mathematics. The books they use are behind at least a year, making it easy to pass the grade and forget the information. It could have changed since I went there, but I doubt it. They don’t allow you to have a choice on whether or not you can go to Assembly, which lasted at least 30 minutes in the morning cutting into the time we were supposed to be being tutored. During one of the Assemblies my younger sister, who was in 7th grade at the time, had fainted and received no help and the owner/principal kept singing and my sister called our mother while the assembly continued and a teacher was gotten by another student. My sister had chipped her tooth and had to get stitches in her chin because of how hard she hit the concrete floor. During the time that I was a student there, the girls specifically were instructed to help younger grades with reading or tutoring, and this was harder to do since some of the children didn’t speak english well, because the school was predominantly Russian or Ukrainian. I would be fine with helping the younger kids read if I had gotten a elective credit for it, because I was there to learn. When I left i had to catch up and earn all the credits I didn’t earn while I was there, which was most of them. I left with 1.5 Math credits- due to only doing algebra 1 and some Geometry, 1 English credit, 0.5 History Credits, and no electives. To add on top of that there was lots of favoritism, and one of my friends got kicked out for having an “attitude” with the owner/principal. I have known multiple families who have left the school unhappy with the owner and the schooling and lack there of.

If I could put a zero I would. The absolute worst place for children. My siblings went here and had the absolute worst experience. Katherine is very rude and unprofessional for a person who runs a school/works with children. Especially for being a “Christian”…I never leave reviews or like to talk rudely but I really hope this review makes people think twice about going here! My sibling are absolutely traumatized. Terrible terrible school!

I used to go here. Many of the teachers were very inexperienced. The owner of the school is one of the worst people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Has an affinity for Slavic children, so I guess that's good if you're Slavic. Would rate 0/100 if possible. Worst years of my academic career.

There is no place for hard-of-hearing kids here. There is a place for special needs children and Ukrainian children though...so you’re good if you have a child like that. Too bad there isn’t an option to rate zero stars.
