Extraordinary person centered team for an orthopedic procedure. Excellent communication from the time to arrive to instruction on arrival to check in. Kind reception asking how we were as we walked to pre op. Outstanding and detailed nursing team and anesthesiologist (Dr Ruby). Post op Angelica -amazing. Overnight and the team all caring. Nurse David so great. Everyone wants to work here. So smart to turn this into just orthopedics as a whole. Eye opening to see first hand excellent care for any clients who may need procedures. Perfect rating.

My dad had his surgery here and the waiting experience was amazing. So much comfy seating. They also have a snack bar with coffee and tea. The staff is absolutely lovely. I burned my hand on hot coffee, the wonderful woman got me an ice pack and even lotion. They have a nice updated screen to keep you notified while waiting. Lots of outlets too to charge your devices while waiting.

Cannot recommend. Very frustrating experience. Scheduled my virtual GI appointment 6 months in advance only to be told it has to be canceled 2 weeks before because my doctor is "closing his clinics on Fridays". Now, the next available with another GI is June.

I came to this ER multiple times, there’s no improvement at all. They don’t understand what ER means. Patients are waiting in pain for 2-3 hours, none of nurse or doctor came to check on them. When I talked to the front desk, they replied, ā€˜you’re in ER, if anything needs to be checked or needed, they’ll do it’. How do you know if the patient needs anything, if you don’t check. One of the nurse saying to a patient, ā€˜ don’t mess with me ā€˜!!!!

We all understand about the limitations, however a little more care and concern can help the patients feel better. They don’t come here for picnic, they came here because they trust you, that you’ll take care of them.

I wish I could give less than a star rating, the hospital seriously needs to get educated on what emergency means. I checked in on ER for severe abdominal pain at 9PM, I got called in inside at ā€œ 3 AM ā€œ after asking several times to the receptionist who was horrible and rude. Went in was given gown to wear and the nurse left despite me telling the pain is severe. I lied down for almost around 2 hours without anyone came in to check me. I felt like I was in prison. I had to call them again and letting them know that I don’t want to continue.
Horrible Horrible Horrible experience.

Don’t risk your health by going to the ER by check in.

I would definitely give JOE at the pharmacy. Five stars, and the SURGEONS were wonderful. Five stars. The nursing (staff on the 5th floor) staff on the other hand were absolutely horrendous with the exception of a couple of the nurses. Also, the PT staff and OT staff were very nice. The nurses who they have floating around for one, LAUREN, I have never had such a horrible, horrible experience after having to spend a night at the hospital with a knee replacement this nurse LAUREN was actually an evil person. I have never encountered anybody like that and there was also the nurse JINTY who was extremely rude. Kept me from pain medication’s after having major surgery, my stay there was extremely uncomfortable, but I did speak with Dr. Mike, who was super nice and also the concierge gentleman who is very nice and the head of the nursing who is, very nice other than that my stay there was one of the most uncomfortable horrendous times ever. I grew up in Skokie, that Hospital used to be called Skokie Valley Hospital ,so I don’t know what they did with the people that they have working there especially on the fifth floor. They don’t answer telephones the night that I spent there they were less than half full, I had to end up calling the main number and having the operator connect me with the nurse’s desk that by the way was right across the hall from me because I had to use the bathroom and they refused to pick up the phone as I’m hearing them laughing ,so that’s just a tip of the iceberg hopefully after speaking to the head nurse and the concierge, I believe his name was Sergio that they were rid of those two horrible nurses that made me feel like crazy it was it was horrible, horrible, horrible LAUREN and JINTY. horrendous. I understand people have ā€œoffā€ days, but in the job they have empathy and compassion are extremely important.

I've noticed this hospital is getting worse and worse. Having gone here for the last 25 years, I have seen lately the receptionists in radiology, and on the 3rd floor check in for mammography (as well as the receptionists that sit next to the mammography receptionist) are so rude and angry towards the patients. I had to come in for a mammogram yesterday and the older African American lady at the reception next to mammography was extremely harsh and negative with how she treated patients that were checking in. I approached her and said "Good morning, I'm here for a mammogram". There was no greeting, no smile, no good morning back. In a harsh tone, she told me to go read the sign on the desk ( mammography was on the other side). At mammography there was a redhead there, she was in just as an irritated mood. I said good morning to her- she gave me no response either.

I'm not sure why they can't hire pleasant people to work in the check-in desks. Are they not getting paid? Avoid Skokie hospital and go to Evanston if you can.

My name is Frank Clancy, I am the husband of a patient who had surgery on her spine on 09/03/2024. Her experience post-op was a nightmare! The pain management team did not follow the written Instructions that were given to them 2 weeks prior, NOR did they have the required medication on hand. She even brought her medication they would use and was drugged with so many medications that she was hallucinating for 4 days. She is allergic to one of the medications which caused hallucinations. The care that he received does not stand up the to normal Standard of "Do no harm" and their mission focus of "Providing World Class Care. This was a horrific experience! If their medical staff had just followed proper, ethical procedures my wife would not still be suffering all of the current pain, stress and anxiety she's feeling currently. The very first thing I need to point out is that we have absolutely no complaints with her surgeon. He was an is a very skillful and compassionate man. The bottom line they are supposedly expected to be trained to subdue the patients pain after surgery. After 2.5 hours, due to the hospital staff's ineptness, lack of preparation and entire lack of professionalism they were totally and completely unable to do absolutely anything to reduce any of my wife's post surgical pain, which should not have happened. They gave her a cocktail of medication that made her a danger to herself. This is the God's Honest Simple Truth of the matter! Unbeknownst to me while I am sitting in the waiting room believing everything is fine and my wife is resting well, there couldn't have been anything from the farthest facts. I was not made aware that my wife had been screaming in pain and begging for help, I was dumbfounded when one of the recovering nurses came out and asked if I wouldn't mind coming to the back, in order to comfort and calm down my wife because her screaming in was scaring other patients, I swear to God Almighty every word I speak, as unbelievable as it may sound, is absolutely the truth. The Nurse ushered me back where I can hear my wife's cries for help, I could not believe the pain she was in. The other recovery nurse was back there with her yelling at my wife to be quite, calling her terrible names and harassing her. I kid no one I then ask Laura what is going on here why aren't you helping my wife? She said "We don't know how to decrease her pain". As long as I live I will never forget the frightened, horrified painful look in her eyes begging me to help her. The Anesthesiologist left without her pain being resolved. My wife started a complaint with Patient Care and we have been sent in circles to 6-8 people since then and it is still not resolved. We have made an attempt to speak to the hospital President and still no response. My wife was offered money to make this right but if she signed the documents the Hospital wants. She will OWE her insurance company that money back. Even the Hospital attorney does not understand this! Today, we received an e-mail from the attorney which said that what happened to my wife met their Standard of Care. Are you kidding me? My wife and I had an appointment with their Attorney, Risk Management and the Head Nurse of the hospital. These people agreed with my wife's consent to allow me to speak on her behalf. While walking, I expressed my anger over this whole situation and that I wasn't angry at any of the people I was speaking to. There were 5 people in the room and they intended to intimidate me. I asked if I could get a cup of coffee. When I went back to the meeting room no one was there. They proceed kicked me our of the hospital using the Security Team. As we sat in the parking lot waiting a return call from the President's office they called the police on us. The Risk Manager Erika has not been professional throughout these so called "negotiations" and even lied so that I would be kicked out of the Hospital. We are going to file numerous complaints and have contacted all the TV Stations in the area. You'll have too look for us on the news, coming soon!
