Staff is extremely judgemental and demeaning to the people staying there. BEWARE: they won't hesitate to go through your personal items when you're not around. It's definitely a LAST resort...

I love this place. I've been a successful mother,, businesswoman and member of the community most my life. This last year, however, has been tough. I didn't know there were orginizations like the VOA, and the advocates and volunteers at both the Women's and Community Shelters, willing and able to literally save lives. At least mine, providing me temporary refuge in order to once more become productive and independent. โค๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™

What a great group of people. Very caring and have been so appreciative of the household items we have taken there for veterans getting their own place. Helping them get a new start on life is so rewarding, everyone should try it.

I'm not sure how to rate these guys. They are for the community. They seem nice but with asking for pamphlets or project layout and goals they seem closed circuit about it. Yeah I would say they are direct and well do keep those allowed to stay safe.

I have to disagree with james.... management as well as staff are amazing, they really, truly care, if your trying to get ahead in life and do better for yourself they will help, the place is awesome for a shelter, it doesn't even feel like a shelter, it's a home with a bunch o f roommates. My family and I feel blessed. Thank you volunteers of America and Durango community shelter for standing behind my family in time of need. We love you guys
